From Pattaya One news....

Popular daytime bar raided by Immigration Police.

In the early hours of Friday Morning, Police Colonel Anon-nut, the Chief of Pattaya's Immigration Office led an operation in the Pratamnuk Area based on a search warrant issued by the Court for a property known as Kinnaree House located between Soi's 4 and 5 off the Pratamnuk Road. The venue is registered as a restaurant; however Immigration suspected the venue was being used as a bar whereby women could be hired for the purpose of sexual services. An undercover operation used foreigners who were armed with marked bank notes took place. As soon as the cash was handed over, the Immigration Officers stormed the building better known as the Kinnaree Palace Gentleman's Club. 26 women suspected of engaging in prostitution were detained and later paid fines at Pattaya Police Station. Two people identified as the manager and owner were also detained and taken to Pattaya Police Station. Khun Nootjarin aged 36 was accused of controlling the suspected prostitutes and Mr. Raymond Rose aged 67 from England was thought to be the owner of the premise. Both are now assisting Police with their enquiries and for now the future of the venue is in the hands of the Police.

Tea money!!!

Went there once (for a beer) quite a nice place and very popular. Expect the Jade House et al to become quite busy as all these old expats will need their hidden away afternoon oats somewhere :o

Perhaps the Pattaya vounteer police have had some involvement? I hope not because that would be outside their remit.

Wouldn't be the first time. They have used 'undercover farangs' in drug stings on Walking Street several times, never find out who they are though.

Edit// BTW, the foreigners handed over the marked bank notes, I assume they then had to sample the services on offer to secure a conviction. Where do I sign up??

An undercover operation used foreigners??? Does that imply they were employed to do this and if so did they have work permits????

That is definately the scariest part of the story!! :o

what interest do farangs have in helping the police take down a brothel???

Could it be that a deal has been done with the gangsters in tight brown and the farangs' leader will be the 'managemen' of the new order with his henchmen given key positions a la Bada Bing with the constabulary taking the lion's share of the profits? Could it be?

Reading this report begs this question...<deleted> where the immigration police doing investigating and raiding a restaurant suspected of being a cover for prostitution.... :o:D , surely this would have been a matter for the "normal" police...not immigration, unless of course the suspected prostitutes where not Thai...

But love the last line..."the future of the venue is in the hands of the police"... :D ....so should be business as usual once the tea money has been paid on a regular basis

There may be more to the story here. Non-Thai sex workers I presume?

Or possibly something to do with the English owner?

Possibly...but surely the logic (I know what country we are in .. :o ) here would be the "Normal BiB" would raid the place, if the Owner is English and there is any contravention of any immigration rules (ie WP, visa etc) he would be handed over to the immigration police for further investigation..??

Also reading this item the accused ie "Khun Nootjarin aged 36" appears to be a Thai national ??...

I know what you are saying but TIT. My friend had his wife's salon raided by Immi police a year or so back. It was all in her name, run by her etc, but they knew there was a farang in the background so decided to check it out. Nothing came of it, but it appears the immi police have carte blanche to do what they like if they suspect there is a foreigner involved.......and maybe the bribes are cheaper??

The couple of times I was in there I noticed a Policeman in civvies in falang company who was involved in arrest of that unfortunate Kevin Quill. He stood out like a sore thumb. This is one person you do not want hanging around your bar. He was there for a reason and not because he enjoyed falang company.

If you enter his name in the search box, you will come up with some information about him. It was a very intriguing story. I often wonder what ever happened with that group of people.

Anyway, the scariest thing I've ever heard of is someone actually getting arrested for prostitution in Pattaya!

It seems odd that Immigration raided the place. The wording makes it sound as if they expected to find foreign prostitutes working there but I suppose the excuse was that a foreigner was running it using his Thai wife or girlfriend as cover. The Prositute Prevention and Suppression Act of 1996 seems broad enough to arrest any one running a girly bar for pimping but it is normally only used for real brothels not bars. It seems more likely there was a problem with pay-offs or some one else paid up to cause them trouble. I guess Mr Rose will be going back to spend the rest of his retirement in sunny Scunthorpe after paying over a wad to the police.

The Foreign Tourist Police Volunteers at your service.... :o again and again...

UNDERCOVER STING NETS THREE MORE UZBEK PROSTITUTES

The Pattaya Immigration Police sent foreign undercover police volunteers, in a sting operation, to purchase sexual services from Uzbek women. The police managed to nab three Uzbek prostitutes and two Thai men, who were their agents.

On 20 September 2007, at 2 AM, Police Colonel Ithiphol Ithisarn-ronachai, Pattaya Immigration Superintendent was informed of a Thai agency that provided Uzbek prostitutes to clients in Pattaya City. Pattaya Immigration set up a sting operation, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasart Kemaprasit, Central Immigration Investigator, and sent three foreign undercover police volunteers to arrange for female prostitutes from the Thai agency.

The three foreign undercover volunteers, with 4500 baht in their pockets, met with Mr. Sathaporn Jaiyos (39), from Utaradit Province, and Mr. Amornsit Chainam (33), from Ubonrachathani Province, in front of the V.C. Hotel, in South Pattaya, to buy sexual services from three Uzbek women.

Mr. Sathaporn and Mr Amornsit took the foreign undercover operatives to meet the three Uzbek women, Miss Sattorova Nargiza (24), Miss Shoyimova Nilufar (27) and Miss Dinoza Allyeva (27), who were waiting for customers nearby. After negotiating the price, they all went to the Gulf Siam Hotel, in North Pattaya, and checked into Rooms 203, 205 and 206. A number of police officers were waiting in the hotel lobby. After some moments, the police appeared in the rooms and arrested the three Uzbek women and the two Thai men who had arranged for the assignations.

The three Uzbek women told police that they had come to Thailand, as tourists, so they could work as prostitutes. Five hundred out of the 1500 baht that the customer was charged went to the agency as a commission for arranging the sexual session. Police took all of them to the station to make a record. The women will be blacklisted so they cannot enter Thailand again. Pattaya Police will process the case according to the law.

"After some moments, the police appeared in the rooms"

hmmmm... the women certainly had enough "moments" to get completely undressed:

Why do they not follow normal international police standards and stop the sting immediately after the money for sex deal is confirmed verbally?

Hold on, if the undercover guys actually concluded the business agreement and paid surely they are also liable for prosecution. I am no legal wizz as you can probably guess but isn't that also entrapment? Enlighten me please. Also what budget did the payments come out of?

IMO, absolutly immoral and unethical action by any law enforcement group, and certainly those foreign volunteers, if the facts described in the news articles posted by SRJ occurred as described.

I'm sure some Pattaya foreign volunteer police members view this forum. Perhaps some would step up, and justify or explain their side of the story, or at least clarify the facts.
