chokde83 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The bikes is really nice for the money, i test driven it a couple of weeks ago at a keeway dealer here in BKK. I thing i am going for the TXM 200 as i like the Motard style, anyone have any experince or good info on it? They dont have it avaible for test drive only the rkv 200 at the places i visited. I understand that is the same engines and other parts so it shouldnt be a big difference in specs. I wonder though if the TXM have the showing of Gear that are used at the display to as the RKV 200? Nice feauture i think
Trutta Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) Have some trouble with the bike now, so now I can see if Modeang provide good service or not. The carburetor is not working properly. They tried to fix it once by adjusting it, but that did not work. They promised me a new carburetor if the problem did not go away, so now I will find out if they keep their promise.... Will come back with updates. Edited August 1, 2012 by Trutta

I've been in touch with Modeang today to see how long I will have to wait for a number plate they are saying 45 day's. be interested to know if they fix your carburetor OK Do you have your Number plate yet? If so how long did you have to wait? Edited August 1, 2012 by T182
Trutta Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I will let you know T182. Still waiting for the plates, but I bought the bike mid June.
T182 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Thanks. They have new sales staff in there now who seem better informed than the old staff, but it will be interesting to see if they can deliver on their promises. Edited August 2, 2012 by T182
Familyonthemove Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 I will let you know T182. Still waiting for the plates, but I bought the bike mid June. My plate took a month to arrive. Will be interesting to see how they cope with the carb problem. What fuel do you use (I've been using the red 91) and do you turn the fuel tap off after each ride (I do - then forget to turn it on again when I ride!). In the pre-fuel-injection days of my riding in the UK I used to shut off the fuel tap before switching off the engine to empty the float bowl to avoid gumming of the carb jets. No idea if this is really worth the hassle - but I do it here as I had problems with my Nouvo carb, and the Nouvo has no fuel tap so this proceudre is not an option.

Trutta Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Have been twice to Modeang after last update, but it is still not 100 percent ok. Was there a long time today, and they have been adjusting and tried to figure it out. Now they believe that the carburetor is ok, but that it is the air intake that is wrong .... Starting to get tired!! Still like the bike, but I`m used to workshops that fix problems like this in a splitt second!! Yes, I use 91 red and no, I don`t turn of the fuel tap. (mabe a should?) I can understand that you are not Impressed thequietman, but I still belive that this is a good first time bike. When I`ve been driving for some months, I will by a bigger one. But for me It`s a good starting bike.
Familyonthemove Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Brief review of the RKV 200 .... http://www.motorcycle.in.th/article.php/Keeway-RKV200_Smart-Choice-200cc-Bike Comments seem about right, although rear suspension can be adjusted. He did well to get 120 KPH!
Richard-BKK Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 It was brought to my attention that the Keeway RKV200 is also available in other ASEAN countries as the Benelli Dragon. The Benelli, a well known Italian motorcycle manufacture, was was bought by the people behind Keeway Motorcycles. See some of the pictures, the exhaust pipe is clearly different....
Familyonthemove Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Crank covers also a bit different. A Benelli sounds faster than a Keeway! Must be good for an extra 10 KPH. The bike in the background is interesting. Looks like the new Keeway/Benelli 600 four?
T182 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Fairing below the engine is from the "s" model sold in the UK. S model is one down from the RKV and sold in the UK for the equivalent of 81,600 baht as a 125cc. Also note the poor man's cruise control that metal plate bolted to the throttle. Thai's being so brand conscious I wonder why they didn't try selling it under the Benelli badge in Thailand? If they did they shouldn't get hammered for tax. Givi manage to sell their Malaysian made boxes in Thailand cheaper than the Italian made ones

Trutta Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 It`s getting there T182.. They have adjusted a little bit here and there, so it is much better. I need to replace the air filter with a slightly thinner, as the engine runs smoother with a thinner filter. I'll give you a update when I changed the filter.
binduzen Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I bought a red one July 27th. Took it to Nong Khai straight out of the box for my visa run. Went through Khao Kor and Nam Nao mountains and was very pleased with it's performance. Fuel efficiency was about 23-26km/l....depending on where I was driving. Not too bad for brand new. After the initial break-in of 500 kms, flat out on level ground was giving me about 125km/h. So for the set-up (carbureted, single barrel) not too bad. Had an opportunity to duel it out with 2 punks on a CBR 150(DOHC valves/cylinder) and I was pleased with the performance. So, all in all not a bad bike for the money. Spent 60K on it with 3 yr/30000km warranty and an upgrade on the carb planned for the future. Local shop are my friends (Thien Wah) so they take good care of their customers. 4 out of 5 stars. 2

Familyonthemove Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 Quick update: Bike still running well. Noticed a small patch of rust on one of the welds on the centre stand after riding through floods over the last few weeks and one of the 'side light' bulbs has blown - but no other issues so far. The office security guard decided to put a lock on my front wheel last night when I was working late - but it's dark in the bike park and I moved the bike before I saw (and heard!) the lock. So now I have no speedo as the wire was ripped off by the lock. Doh! Gear change is improving - but when I take it back to the dealer to have the speedo cable replaced - I will ask them to see if the gear change can be adjusted to improve the 1st to 2nd shift. One thing I've noticed is that it starts fine without the choke - so I don't use it any more. Maybe the choke is for colder countries?

Familyonthemove, make sure that you or the dealer uses the best SAE10W/40 (-20 to +40° celsius) multi-grade or SAE 40 (+15 to +40° celsius) motorcycle oil you can buy. We heard some rumors that now-a-day some motorcycle shops buy cheap engine oils from unreliable sources.... P.S. This is not only related to Keeway Motorcycles... 1

Do you mean they use cheap unbranded oil when doing oil changes or do you mean they sell fakes? High priced quality oil is more likely to get faked, so imo it always depends on the source you buy from, not on the brand.
T182 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Well firstly thank's to Family on the move for starting this thread which has supplied a lot of information I wanted. Time for my update Trutta If you have any more problem's with your bike and you are not happy with Mordaeng? Pornsupaert the Honda dealer near Ploy palace are now selling the Keeway RKV 200. I've used them in the past to take care of a Honda wave and it's alway's been good service there soooooo........ 2 week's ago I ordered a red RKV 200 It had to be ordered from Bangkok and it was delivered to the house in Mukdahan last Thursday. Bad pictures from my better half's phone attached. It will be another 5 weeks until I can take it out, but at least it is there waiting along with a Givi box which was delivered in 2 day's from Thai Motorbox in Bangkok who also have a givi rack on order for me from Malaysia. Rack wont be arriving until November. Pornsupaert said they could deliver the bike in 10 day's and did it in 8 It has been delivered as I requested with no petrol in it and the battery disconnected. They left instruction's on what I should do before riding it, and a message to call if I want them to set it up and they will send someone to the house to do it when I arrive. So time is going to drag now about 4 week's until I get back plus another week stuck in Bangkok getting some dental work done. I want the smile just right before riding it 1

Familyonthemove Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 Someone who brought TXM200? Can notice me and review how about Quality of TXM 200? I think i will get it in a nearly Thank I like the look of the latest version of the TX - but not ridden one. I think the engine and general quality will be the same as the RKV - so good for the price.
Familyonthemove Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 QUICK UPDATE on my RKV 200. After the office Security guard decided to put a lock on my front wheel one night - and then I rode off with it still on ... Doh! .... I needed to replace the damaged speedometer sensor on the front wheel. I sent an email (in English) to the Keeway main dealer in Hua Lamphong about dropping the bike in to get the sensor replaced, and got a reply the same day (also in English) saying that they needed to order the part as they did not have it in stock and giving the name and number of the service manager. A week later they confirmed that the part was in stock. I was travelling with work - so the husband of the daughter of my housekeepers oldest sister (don't you just love Thai extended family networks) rode the bike to the dealer and got it fixed in an hour. 500 THB for parts and labour and they also replaced a blown side-light bulb. So first impressions of parts and servicing is good. I also got them to look at the sticky 1 to 2 gear-change .... but according to the Condo maintenance man who took my bike for a spin and the ex-motorsai taxi 'husband of daughter of sister of housekeeper' who took my bike to the dealer "it's my falang foot and not the gearchange - you are used to motorbike Angid with girls gearchange lever". They may be right, as the dealer said the gearchange seemed fine. 1

Riding in tennis shoes Ok...riding with biker boots No good....until I adjusted it about 5 mm! 1
