I know this has been discussed before........but has anyone made a recent purchace of a samsung refrigerator or any of the other companies & had bad experiences. We looked for whirlpool but it is not to common here in Pattaya area.

I was interested in any experiences with the newer invertor style fridges so I don't wind up with a subpar fridge. Thanks for any replies!!!!!!

I've got two large Samsung frigs...one is 4 years old and one 3 years old. Knock on wood, no problems to date. Also got a small Toshiba frig I got free when buying the first Samsung frig along with some TVs I bought at the same time....also no problems with the Toshiba frig. These are just standard frigs versus any invertor type.

I've bought a large fridge with a top freezer compartment made by that company. After more than two years no problem; it works well.

Bought large invertor Panasonic several weeks ago and seems to be operating well. Have large Samsung non invertor from some years ago and have had service twice - once for door switch failure (causing cooling to fail due computer interface) and again when both temp sensors failed. Not impressed with reliability or company service (no parts stocked in Thailand). AFIAK Whirlpool is not a maker anymore but just a brand name put on products of others. The Panasonic was a replacement for failed Whirlpool unit and had another that gave away years ago (defective door - known fault by maker). Would not consider buying again. Have had large Toshiba with ice maker for about 5 years with no issues (but not invertor).

I had a Samsung and it ran very hot as well as having probs with the cheap plastic shelving/drawers breaking and the Samsung service center not having replacements.I talked to the head of service at a big supplier here in Pattaya and they said Panasonic or Mitsubishi are the best and most reliable.

I read that the switches & the motherboards were problematic in the U.S. for samsung. Along with the ice makers & the water dispensers. When the door switch goes out the fan in the refrig side quits. I think it may be a Mitsubishi this time around. Anyone have any good news on either Panasonic or Mitsubishi.....& thanks for the responses. It is a bitch to find comments about products accept for Thai Visa!

We bought a Samsung about six months ago and the compressor seems loose and it shakes more than I think it should. The freezer door jams up mid way sometimes and it makes clunking noises when it is going through the automatic defrosting. I don't think I would buy another one. We had a Sharp in a rental house that was very solid, but we could not find them for sale anywhere so ended up with the Samsung. Everything stays cold though and it seems fairly frugal on electricity.

I mainly buy Electrolux household goods as they've always served me well.

Also have a good after sales service/parts in Thailand, though haven't needed to call them as yet, touch wood.

I currently own a large side by side double door Electrolux fridge 2yrs old and works great.

A friend bought a similar Samsung and has had problems with temp control and long waiting time for replacement parts

which ended up having both doors replaced and a 2 month wait with no fridge.

I was looking for a fridge with the largest freezer compartment I could find and lo and behold, one was to be had and it was made by Mitsubishi. A third of it is freezer and on the top...which is better, as cold air does settle. Of course it was the last one and they have discontinued that model, but we got ours! It is working like a champ and hopefully for a long time to come. pg

Believe you will find freezer on bottom will have separate cooling coils so cool air fall is not an issue in anything but single door units.

Google "Samsung refrigerator problems" and then do the same for Toshiba, Hitachi etc. I think you will very quickly go off the idea of a Samsung refrigerator. I know of two people with Samsung fridge's in Aust, and both have had service calls in the first year.

Samsung for TV's and mobiles seem OK, and I have had both trouble free for a few years so I am not a Samsung basher. May be different sections of the same company have different ideas on quality?

Cheers
