whats it like pulling that boat over the hill from Patong to kathu, only joking!!!!, a little work horse, mighty impressive

Could launch the boat on soft sand beaches without problems:

Your boat looks a similar size to mine, which I brought home outside the house for her annual deep clean/maintenance/new anti foul (yet to be completed) a couple of weeks ago:

That boat ( owned by a mate) is 15'. Yours seems a little smaller?

This is my old boat, a Swiftcraft Dominator. Used to tow it from Perth to Exmouth every year using Land Cruisers.

Trick photo mate, no way that vehicle could even move that boat without towing it

That would be perfect for booting around Phuket, all the boats that are built here are way too overpowered or look like they would sink on a flooded footy field

Always been partial to Shark-Cats, myself.

Agree with you.

Would have liked one myself, but the cost, hundreds of thousand dollars, and the size of the beastie, made it impracticasl for me.

Very heavy for its size (fiberglass 18'3") with a deep V hull. Great seaboat, particularly in the dangerous oceans off western Australia, but difficult to tow and launch/retrieve. In that picture the boat is sitting on the sand at Exmouth while we waited for the tide to come in so we could get to the ramp.

Once lost a trailor wheel and hub 100 kms north of Carnarvon. Sat on the side of the road in 100+ degrees of heat for 5 hours until we could get going again. Put a dual axle on the trailer after that and never again had so much as a flat tire.

Sounds like your talking about Inter house road, but 30 minutes? Takes me about 5 minutes to do that on the dirt bike.

The Patong to Chalong KB is referring to is another good one. Also if you follow the road next to Karon Viewpoint past Siam Beach it turns to dirt and there is some riding to be had there.

I think we are talking about the same track, on a dirt bike there is plenty of room to manoeure, a full size 4x4 takes up almost the entire track with little to spare and you need to be carefull not to get stuck with no where to turn around and worry about going over the edge and down the hill sideways so naturally it takes a lot longer

Made the ride this morning with the kid on the Wave from the Kok Chang side, felt more comfortable doing it the first time up hill. Took me about 15 minutes, including a few stops to admire the scenery.

Not as lonely though as I expected from this thread, somebody was even mowing the grass a bit away from the road, but all in all a very nice road. Would be hard on a saloon car, but any 4x2 pickup will be able to do this drive.

You must have been on the wrong track, If its the one that starts in Kata and ends up on the coastal road, Its definatel not a road, try it in your 4x2 pickup and see how you go

I started at Kok Chang on the coastal road and ended up on the Kata-Chalong road, close to Kata school. As Joe said, there is only 1 track that connects these 2 roads.

SL try driving your 4x2 pickup along it and see how you go, i suggest you start at the Patak road end then its all downhill

From that end it starts concrete then gravel and turns into a dirt track
