Jingthing Posted June 10, 2022 Author Posted June 10, 2022 Another update on Hong Kong Wok. A dish which I originally mistranslated as something bland like lo mein noodles turned out to be a really big surprise! Spicy snail noodles! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luosifen 螺蛳粉 I didn't realize what it was until later. Glad I didn't know it before. I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise and yes it was tasty. What was it? Delightfully very al dente pho noodles with pickles, nuts, and some sort of small bits of thin dried loaf, perhaps snail based perhaps pork based ok definity mystery meat. The broth a very spicy red broth probably a powdered package imported.from China that has snails. Taiwanese soy sauce pork rice bowl under sets. This is a famous dish Often the meat is fatty pork belly but this wasn't but good because I could eat most of it. Boiled egg,. Bok choy. Usually the egg is soy sauce soaked. This wasn't. Includes a delicious side chili based flavoring sauce. Needless to say I'm having fun checking out the shifting menu at Hong Kong Wok.

PoorSucker Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 I'm craving for authentic Yunnan noodles, does it exist here? There's a Yunnan village in Northern Chiang Mai on the border to Burma called Aronathai, old lady at a restaurant got me hooked on it. 1

I have had it in Chiang Mai several times but long ago. 1 1

Popular Post hackjam Posted July 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 6, 2022 Last week, had the Monday special at Rock Factory, open air music bar near Tree Town. Was a decent feed for 199B, pork was really tender and plentiful. Only drawback was the SML, which was over priced at 95B. 2 1 1

Me & Mrs MD used to eat there often when we visited Pattaya, but it was called Rich Bar then.
Popular Post champers Posted July 7, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 7, 2022 Not a review, but just to say that Prime Burger have opened a branch at Central Festival on the bottom floor. From 2nd Rd go down the escalator and it is on the RHS opposite the supermarket and next to Mister Donut. Menu is as Soi Buakhao, with the daily special. Was empty when I went by at 4.30. 1 2

My 10 year old son liked them, I liked that they fried the onions they put on. If you are on a budget and don't eat Thai food it's a solution. It is what it is, cheap burgers and they're not trying to hide it. Tried it on two locations and they are consistent. 1
Popular Post Jingthing Posted July 10, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted July 10, 2022 Wang Kai Chinese Cuisine Address 17/36 Moo 12 Pratumnak 5 Monday-Sunday 10:00-23:59 GRAB APP for delivery Fairly decent though nothing to get excited about "authentic" Chinese food with numerous Sichuan offerings. Mostly ample portions and moderate prices relative to the local market for Chinese food. You will need to translate the menu on Grab. Those seeking western style Chinese steer clear. I have been adding Sichuan pepper oil at home to enhance the Sichuan dishes which really does help. The oil is sold on Lazada or at the Chinese goods store on 2nd road a bit north of Pattaya Tai. So bottom line this is a lukewarm recommendation but it's good enough for me to order from fairly regularly. Some sample dishes from Grab menu: Hot and sour soup large 180 Spicy pork ribs 180 Morning glory 119 Chicken Claypot 220 Home style fried tofu with pork 150 Firm tofu strips with Chinese Celery 129 Pork strips in fish flavored sauce 220 Kung pao chicken 180 Stewed pork belly 280 Shrimp fried rice 100 Spicy cabbage 100 Spicy green beans with pork 120 Bitter melon egg 100 Ribs and vegetables soup 190 Thin sliced potato 110 Ma po tofu 150 Pork liver 180 Beef and vegetables 250 Hot pan cauliflower 140 My order had brocolli instead Chongqing spicy chicken 179 1 2

Yes, ironically soon after I talked up Honest Indian here they started to be almost always closed. I don't have a current replacement either that I like as much. How we suffer!
