Lots of visitors for breakfast this morning. Indian rollers, coucals, a young egret and lots of mynah birds

Not for the faint of heart but....

One of my staff collected them all up and put them in a bucket with water. (about 1 gallon)

They soaked all day and after work he took them home to cook and eat them.

I kid you not. I have eaten some weird stuff here in Thailand (grasshoppers, locusts, congealed blood soup etc) but flying termites? Yuk sick.gif

I'll let you know if he makes it back to work tomorrow.

Sounds resource-effective though. Imagine the amount of natural resources required for a similar amount of beef protein.

Have you not tried honey ant soup? Tastes like hot flat lemonade and not bad.

I got some fried beehive a couple of years ago.

The larvae still were alive inside.

Tasted wonderful, but had to brush my teeth twice to get rid of the vax.

Batten down the hatches Tropo..just have the 1st wave attack...mozi swatter is just about holding it's own ready-for-tennis-smiley-emoticon.gif

Seems to me they are attracted to florescent lights (sometimes!!) I was at a restaurant the other evening ... the shop next door had a florescent light and they were only hovering around that... non under the regular lights of the restaurant ... thumbsup.gif

I have not seen any around my place this year (yet!) whistling.gif

yep - I too had the flying ants tonight (smaller ones). Nowhere near the numbers from last time. The geckos and tokays have eaten them all already.

Red and blue lights does not attract in the same amount, (bar wisdom)
