Good 3* hotell in or near Chiang Rai

Looking for local advice please. Coming up to CR this week with wife and baby. I don't know the city at all. Looking for a good 3* clean comfortable hotel along the lines of an Ibis or an All Seasons hotel. Need good mattress not Thai 'foam'. If not available, happy to go up to 4* say 1000 or 1200 a night. Any recommendations please.

After note. In reality still probably 3* for 1000 or 1200......

Hi iancnx,

You can check B2 hotel in chiangrai. It's right in town near the Samakhee School & walking distance to Night Bazaar & restaurants.

The Fortune Place is also excellent....it's neat and clean. They offer monthly rental and daily rental as well. Its 2 minutes drive to the town...very convenient.

check their websites.... :)

Just to close this I ended up in the Dusit Island resort, double, deluxe room, river view, no breakfast for GBP £42 per night including the 17% ++. A really nice hotel, superb mattress, superb pool, excellent bistro cafe eatery, excellent customer service at every level. I know more than my original budget but worth every penny. Thoroughly recommended. Booking through AGODA.

It is interesting that the Dusit never really gets a mention but it is a great place to stay, even if it is getting a little long in the tooth. Glad you enjoyed your stay.smile.png

A friend recently visited from Malaysia and stayed here for a few days https://www.facebook.com/NATNALIN.CHIANGRAI?fref=ts

New hotel on a quiet soi just off the new road from the police station to the super-highway. He was very happy there, it isn't central so used his rental bike or taxi when going out but only 5min from town. Very nice, comfortable rooms and very reasonable prices...500baht for the normal room and 850 for the VIP suite. Nice coffee shop only a few mins walk away and Baan Mai market, Tesco Lotus just 5mins away. Lots of eating options within walking distance too and the lovely Chivvithammada is very close as well. Definitely an option for any future visitors smile.png
