I would have thought the decline in the American heartland started with Reagan economics... all those tens and tens of thousands of leveraged buy outs of decent solid profit making American businesses...as just one example of money for a few before the benefit of many.

MUCH WORSE, Jingthing? Granted the British economy is pretty horrible, but to compare, you need to put like with like; there is not much similarity except that they both spend too much money.... and not particularly wisely.

It is a proven fact that loss of tax revenue is what put Detroit on it's heels and tax paying white flight took place after the black race riots so they basically shot themselves in the foot.

The problem was then compounded by a corrupt left wing government.

Fifty consecutive years of Democratic Party and union boss leadership didn't help.
