A Question about opening a really small business in Phuket - Patong

Featured Replies

Hello Everybody,

I am planning to have a small business in patong like selling drinks and fruit and snacks on the street.

what do i need to make this business legal ? where do i exactly go and what papers do i need ?

please help me !!

thank you.

I presume you're not Thai?

If so, your question "what do i need to make this business legal" is easy: can not be done.

This seems identical to the thread you started in the Business forum.

Incidentally, good luck.

If you are not a Thai national then you would need a Thai national to obtain licences and operate this business.

i can find a Thai national. but my question is, does it take so long to open a business ? like with the ministry of commerce or police or whatever ?

and is it legal to sell drinks, food and snacks on the street ?

Nobody is allowed to sell food on the streets in Thailand.

That's one of the funniest replies I've seen for a while.

"Troll" is not short for "Trolley." :) :)

Anyway, why don't you just give the money to the girl and not waste you time with this small business plan?

Yes NKM, I laughed out load also.

Perhaps not a troll, but rather, the dumbest person to ever post on TV.

I will not make a judgement on the intelligence of the OP, but I was thinking he's not a native english speaker.

In any case, if he does start his small donation, ahhh, I mean, business - he's in for a steep learning curve and a lower bank balance. :) :)

At least it wont be an expensive learning curve. A food trolley and the inventory plus the licenses should not be costing too much. But if successful, the returns could be very handsome.

what are ur plans,

Buy stuff at 7/11 and than add 10%

good luck as u will need it

go down and ask the arabs at the kebab stores how they did...hehe

If he does better ( competes) with similar thai businesses in the area he will find out the real rules of business in thailand.

I think "he will find out the real rules of business in Thailand" from the new girlfriend. :) :)

To make it simple, you need to spend about 100k baht for the legal paperwork and it will take about 2-3 months. Then you have to explain why (if you want a work permit) this job cannot be performed by a Thai. My guess is it will take years to break even and it is not worth the headache.

There are some who already try this motor trolly buisness in Pattaya and Bangkok but don´t know how good sucess it was.
