Dam_n fine looking ride too...

On a side note, anyone with experience of the older XJR400s ?

Have finally reached a point where I have some spare coin for a new bike, not a huge amount but enough for a set of touring wheels.

Got an option on a year old CBR250 at 75k with 12000 on the clock, farang owned from new. Economical, reliable, perfect for my needs but no character. So, what about a CB400 or an XJR400 for around the same price ?

fueling they say is glitchy especially at low speeds.

Also, throttle response they day is snappy a lot.

but this weight is super IMO, just what i need in Bangkok.

If using the Yamaha Bolt R as a price reference the FZ 9 will likely sell for just below the 465000 baht price of the bobber, as it is a little cheaper in the States. A Motorcycle News group test had the Triumph Street Triple in 1st place (a superb bike as I know from owning one in the UK. Fastest 0 - 60mph as well). 2nd - Kawasaki Z800. 3rd - Yamaha FZ 9. 4th - MV Agusta Brutale, which by all accounts is an unpleasant bike to ride.

Don't waste your money on a CB400 or XJR400.

wait till November/December, after a few new bikes released in Thailand.

Then, prices will drop a lot on the 2nd hand market.

There is also the Inazuma 250 from Suzuki, let's wait and see the prices.

yep, a friend of mine just got a cb500f in very good condition for 160 k thb at 4000 km with a valid 1st class insurance - costs 12k thb now.

so prices are going down!

Nice Bike!!! Too bad it's overpriced in Thailand.

I know it's no comparison but I guess I'll buy a honda CB650F.

Just seems better priced.

Hopefully in the future we'll get more bikes for the actual price in Thailand.

Overpriced? I think that 435,000 baht is a good price for this bike.

in thailand it is fair enough but dont check the prices in the west or it wont feel such a sweet deal lol

I was comparing the price to US prices. 8,000 excluded sales tax so even if it was 9,000 US including tax etc... the price in Baht would then be less than 300,000THB.

Yes, if you compare to the price in the UK it's not that bad.

Anyway I thought the bike was (partial) produced in Thailand so expected a better price.

It doesn't matter lower prices only happen if they have the proper tax deal worked out with Thailand. Triumphs I believe are put together in Thailand but are considered a import bike.

Pal of mine just bought this bike in Australia.

Had the dealer add a

Penske rear shock and GP fork re-valve/piston kit

Just cannot stop glowing about the bike.

He just loves it.

55555 just checked the price in my home country ( Denmark ) 700.000 Baht

Yeah, even worse in Denmark. Isn't it one of the countries with highest taxes?

Correct.

I checked Ducati DK and the Hyperstrada/Motard cost X2 Thailand prices so I am not complaining.

And then fuel for your bike another X2, I have not plans of returning to DK.

I am also very very interested in the MT-09, seems like a real fun bike to ride.

The MT-09 has had a great review in Fast Bikes mag (UK) and certainly worth considering.

My choices for a bike in Thailand are this Yam, 2014 Z1000 or Street Triple R (owned one in Singapore for 3 years). The only thing I would worry about the Street would be lack of dealer support around my place (Korat).

Then again - I can dream on as I have to face the fact I'm not about to give up the day job just yet (which keeps away from home) presently working in Malaysia - and bikeless sad.png.pagespeed.ce.cyRRGRfa7C.png

Seems MT-09 is in ChiangMai now & is 435k baht

MT-09 price will be 435,000 baht.
It does not have ABS.
It will be fully imported.
Initially the 2 available colours will be grey (with blue wheels) and red, with other options becoming available later.

The bike will be unveiled at Yamaha Square 6pm Saturday 8th March.
For early orders delivery will occur 'end of May.'

Nice bike - Japan's answer to the Street Triple (priced well also).

+1

This bike is soooo cool man and should be an absolute blast to ride.

So the name is FZ-09 and not MT-09?

I wish we have a proper Yamaha dealer in Pattaya and not this odd shop selling jet ski's as well.

I am tempted, very tempted.

I initially wanted a Hyperstrada/motard but the problems I hear about keep me off and this one is 65K bath cheaper.

I can understand it sells like hot cakes aboard.

I might wait untill an ABS model hits the market and then make up my mind, hmm.

The FT vs MT thing is a regional deal.

Same bike different names

I would not worry about ABS wink.png

This is a total hooligan bike & I bet loads of grins

Latest article at about mt 09 says again bad things about suspensions and fueling. Like guys cannot push it with confidence.

And many owners buy rear shock and spring sets for front. Combine this expense with a possible ecu flash or an aftermarket ecu, you are in 2000 usd including labor suddenly which makes the bike not so good value at the end.

Still, yamaha is back finally! They are releasing new models and actually mt 07 is also a very good value. New bikes are coming as well so welcome back yamaha!
