Igor Vashurkin’s damaged Yaris car.

PHUKET: -- A Russian tourist was arrested for drunk-driving yesterday evening (November 5) after crashing his car near the municipal swimming pool in Cherng Talay.

Police received a report at 8:15 pm that a car had overshot a curve in the road and crashed into a billboard.

At the scene they found a white Toyota Yaris buried in the billboard and its driver, Igor Vashurkin, 49, from Omsk, ranting at rescue staff who had helped him to get out of the wreck.

He was taken to Thalang Hospital where his blood alcohol level was found to be over the limit. He was arrested for driving under the influence.

Right. Let's bash Thais instead. This is ALL their fault. If they didn't have such a fun country, we wouldn't be enticed to come here. Thais!!!!

In Thailand you have to adjust to local customs: Flee the scene!!rolleyes.gif

And give yourself up/report in when sober.

Of course he is arrested, he's not Thai whistling.gifclap2.gif

He was probably arrested for loud mouthing the rescue boys and showing no respect to the Police.

Most likely arrested for being drunk and disorderly, and drunk driving.

A well known Phuketeer and a buddy of mine ploughed into a powerpole pissed as a fart, managed to reverse off it and get his truck home. His missus took the truck around to another friends house and they stashed it under a cover.

The cops were at his door the next morning. He was accused of the accident and leaving the scene which he denied vehemently. Then they produced his number plate which was embedded in the powerpole and said you better come with us! Hope u read this grandpa

This forum has to be filled with all kind of nonsensical articles, they are hardly newsworthy. The man gets fined, nobody is hurt, need to pay for the damage and that is it. If Thaivisa believes this is newsworthy we will wait and see the reporting of the other thousand or so daily accidents in which nobody is hurt.

Yeh!

All roads should be straight.

Bill boards made of rubber.

Rules made clear to all that running away is mandatory.

If he had behaved properly he probably would have got away with the drunk driving.
