Cheers Chook, I can see why you're a cranky old bastard now, you'd need to be 70 to remember a Saint's flag wouldn't you?

Any room here for a South Aussie who's team has actually won a flag this century? smile.png

Good to see another from the Chiang Rai forum

Watched the Cats pies match, was good. The pies went with 5 recruits and took it right up to the cats who played their list from last year.

Pies choked out again.. Was keeping tabs on the score whilst watching the cricket. Too much sport going on, very little work got done today!

Buddy & Kurt up front, possibly supported by 'butter fingers Reid'...should be good.

Our midfield will have to pick its self up a notch to overcome sides like Freo

They all had a pretty full on hit out today in an intra-club game..

Lance Franklin draws huge crowd to intra-club match with Sydney Swans

If Lance Franklin expected that moving to Sydney would allow him peace and space compared with the suffocating world of football-mad Melbourne, he was given a reminder that, on the field at least, he is going to draw a huge amount of attention in his adopted city.

Rusted-on Swans fans might wish it was the club's array of stars that drew several-hundred - some were saying more than 2000 - people to the team's intra-club hitout at Lakeside Oval on Wednesday evening.

If it were Collingwood, Geelong or even Franklin's old club Hawthorn, a crowd at, effectively, a training session would be par for the course. But at the Swans? They'd never seen anything like this.

Chooka and fellow gangsters

I think the time has come to split the forum.

With 12 teams in the dream team, there will

be quite a lot of postings one would assume.

I also think it will be easier to separate the two

before the season starts proper.

I hope I'm not urinating on anyone's parade, but

I just think having a separate forum for the DT is

the most logical way to go.

There is a private chat area on the actual dreamteam site we can discuss the dreamteam when the season kicks off. We will keep it separate then. The reason I have been posting the lists of participants on here is that it has attracted more people to the forum itself. How many did we have last year, 7? We have almost doubled now even before the season proper has started.

Yes I fully understand what you are saying and agree, when the season proper kicks off we keep this forum for the season and tipping as last year and dreamteam chat on the afl site. I also have no problem making a specific dreamtean forum if people want.

Watching the Hawthorn/Brisbane game. How can Brisbane be so pathetic, only scoring 9 points at 3/4 time 20 goals behind.

Brings back memories of the Bears early years. facepalm.gif

It's only the NAB Cup, nothing is lost but I thought there would have been some effort. The actual lions/Brisbane have had more success than the saints.thumbsup.gif

Sounds like a thrashing...hard to base much on the pre season comp though

Just sent a report to the moderators asking if we can run two forums side by side.

You were still the team of the decade, you were just outplayed and out generalled that day. clap2.gif

It was the way they lost, went the biff, etc. that was embarrassing. Champion teams just shouldn't fall apart that way.

I was in BKK at the time, but friends who watched it in Brisbane at the public screening said that the people felt embarrassed.

Still, it's 10 years ago now. (10 years already!!)

Leppitsch fielded 9 first-gamers, 6 of them draftees and 3 second-year players, against last year's premiers. Only 5 players in the squad had played more than 50 games.

Just a chance to blood the new and younger guys. Must have been a shock for them! xshock1.gif.pagespeed.ic.NCM_cuQwiS.webp

My take on the game is different to yours.

A lot of people forget that Port finished on top in 2002, 2003 and 2004

so were obviously a terrific team. Brisbane were a team of aging champions.

To make it even worse, despite finishing 2nd, Brisbane had to travel to Melbourne

to play Geelong in the preliminary final despite finishing higher. The AFL had a deal

that 1 preliminary final had to be played at the MCG. There was a feeling that not

enough was done by the AFL to rectify this (us non-Victorian followers can identify

with this). The AFL changed it the following year but there was a general feeling that

the AFL wanted the Port to win their first grand final.

As far as biff, I clearly remember Josh Carr starting a lot of the blues and in a lot of cases,

Brisbane were retaliating.

If I were a Brisbane supporter, embarrassed isn't a word I'd use. Something like proud would

be more apt.
