January 1, 201412 yr Title sums it up. So many nightclubs and entertainment venues I enjoy visiting, partying and dancing at yet I see dozens of unsmiling, frowning, morose looking older farang. Why leave your house to go out and sit alone looking like you're at a funeral? I would like to try and just ignore them but there so many of them and they just look so depressed. Sitting alone, milking a beer with a blank stare on their faces. Just this past weekend at Insomnia nightclub. I see countless guys who try to pick up Thai girls by walking over to them and staring. No smile, no "hi, how are you…", no offer to buy them a drink. Almost like their mere presence and them being a young farang is enough to attract a beautiful girl. Not too mention the girls are all made up and look great while the farangs wear a tshirt and jeans. Am I missing something here? You go out in western countries to have fun and party and hopefully meet some hot girl (but usually not:) Why are these guys even going out in Thailand? I don't get it.

The world, and Thailand in particular, needs more people like you. If foreigners didn't regard Thai women who go to bars as prostitutes - then they cease to be prostitutes* - and can exist simply as individuals ...free from commoditization as sex objects. Yes! that's it! In this "new age" women can be free until marriage, free to date men of any skin colour, until after marriage they then become the chattel of men. Happy days I feel like I'm living in the 1950s already! Someday Thailand might be as advanced as the west. Who knows? January 2, 201412 yr Hunting isn't as good as it used to be for the older guys and they are getting sadder and sadder about it. In the 4 years I was there I noticed a slow but steady increase in younger westerners. The Thai women are holding out for younger men more and more. Good for them. The old geezers can go for the older women now or stick to their porn and I can stop throwing up. Of course there is only one little problem with that scenario, the older gals are often far more prudish. Ya just can't teach an old dog new tricks, it seems male or female. That's a big reason why we are such youth oriented cultures.

You were talking about Insomnia "nightclub" on Walking Street, right? Full of freelance talent. If you're young and handsome you may pick up a chick for free as these girls do like to do that to offset the clientele (the staring fat old weirdos) they have to deal with all the time. The place is done up alright and cranks some party tunes, so I believe they've got an occasional walk-in that doesn't sell herself in the night, but most of the girls there are hookers either working or partying. Note: I've even been there with my wife. My friend was playing a party mix CD from Insomnia in my car and the wife wanted to go get some tunes like that. We had a good time, but I couldn't leave her alone for a moment as she was getting propositioned as soon as. No pick-up lines either. More along the lines of those staring fat old weirdos...

OP must be new to Thailand, put it down to the innocence of youth he does speak with such authority, I personally know many girls that go out to these clubs and are in no way a prostitute. These girls can be whatever you want them to be, such naivete. Little Miss Massage Parlour is probably dreaming of the land and farang mansion upcountry already, its just the OP isnt yet aware of this or how things work here.
