Oh dear.... The South African's have dropped Warner twice now this innings laugh.png

Make that 3 timesfacepalm.gif

South Africa just wasted a review for LBW against Warner on 97.

Next ball Warner cracks a boundary for his 6th test 100!

It has been shocking catching and fielding Will27. Those overthrows and constant mis-fields. It all has similarities to the English capitulation in the recent Ashes series

LOL..Doolan launches a lovely 6.

An extreme lack of Yarpie supporters on here me thinks!!

Not many at the ground either by the looks of it

I can't believe the poor crowds.

You'd think the number 1 side in the world playing the Aussies

would be a big draw card.

Maybe the one dayers and 20/20 are replacing test cricket.

I hope not.

Astounding really.

Also seems odd to have the 4th and 5th day on the weekend.

I can understand why India, Australia, England are looking to take control of the ICC

Anyone else getting a feeling of deja vu?

MJ terrorising them and taking a bundle of wickets

and then Warner coming out in the 2nd innings and

smashing them.

I think Warner averages 25 in first innings and 54 in the 2nd.

It's working in a winning team though.

Any crowd numbers so far?

Reminds me of going to the waca years ago to watch shield matches.

Well done Doolan and rest of the boys, looking forward to today.

I have yet to see an official attendance figure for day 1 and day 2 of the match (nor day 3).

I tried cricinfo and online South african newspapers and news sites...nothing. I wasn't able to access the South African Cricket Board website

Yeah, will be very interesting how South Africa go 2nd innings. They have had a good recent record of getting big scores in the 4th innings and they have an unbelievable batting line up.

I know there has been comment on Warner performing in the 2nd innings , rather than the first, with some saying this doesn't count. I'm not sure i agree with that position though. Like his hundred here (fortuitously or not), he scored quickly, taking the game further away from South Africa and giving the Aussie bowlers plenty of time to bowl out the SA batsmen.

He did the same against England, taking away hope for them a couple of times.

Agreed, his fielding's pretty bl00dy good as well.

I'll admit i watch 20/20 fleetingly, cant help but think it's killing certain aspects of cricket, may also be helping some areas.

Maybe a few extra into the ground today being the weekend and all.....but given the score maybe not!

Marsh a quick fire ton then send them in?

Don't get me wrong BookMan, Warner is very valuable to us and even more so because the side is winning.

Him regularly coming in with 200 on the board lets him play unrestrained with little or no pressure.

But, if we are struggling like we did in England and he kept getting out for low scores while trying to play his shots,

well then he's not so valuable and I think people would question his style.

In this present side, he has a perfect opening partner in Rogers who compliments him well. I'm still of the opinion

that games are won and lost in the first innings but they way the Aussies have been going, at the moment him and

Rogers are the perfect combination.

It will be an interesting dilemma for the selectors if Watson is available for the next test methinks.

It only took a few difficult overs today and Clarke decided to declare.

South Africa chasing 482 to win....or hoping Johnson breaks down

edit: Crikey! Johnson strikes in his first over. South Africa 1/6

edit: Johnson strikes again in his second over. Smith out to a great catch by Doolan. 2/12

Johnno v Saffirs = hot knife through butter!

Yep, 12th 5 wkt haul.

Mitchell J has done to South Africa this test exactly what he did to England. He has blitzed them with pace, taken their confidence and put the team into a muddled mess.

I have been surprised at just how intimidate the South African batsmen have been this match

Only just got home. I was surprised that the number 1 test cricket team was beaton so easily. Johnson has certainly turned his game around to become a very destructive bowler. Well done to the Aussie. I hope for the same next test.

I aggree with an earlier comment about Watson. I do not think he should win his spot back.

Victory to Australia!

South Africa all out for 200.

Australia win by 280 runs...with a day reamaining.

Johnson would have to get man of the match.

Only 4 days until the 2nd test!

Whoaaaa...we won by 281..LOL. lov'n it!

Strangely enough, the same margin as their last test win against England.

MJ will have to extend his trophy cabinet.

I'm not sure, but I think he won 3 MOM awards

in the Ashes and man of the series, plus 1 now.

I agree that no one deserves to be dropped but

with the next test only 4 days away, I think we will

need another bowler.

If that's the case I think Doolan will be the unlucky one to go

(assuming Watson is fit).

Speaking of the low crowd issue. Terribly bad programming

by SA. This test started on a Wed and the biggest crowd was

(not surprisingly) on a Sat. Surely at worst it should start on a

Thursday but preferably a Sat.

Is Australia a one trick Pony with Johnson?

Like you said Will, 4 MOM awards out of his last 6 tests! Sensational stuff. We don't want to see him injured.

I agree with you about Watson. Would be difficult to see the selectors not drop Doolan.

One further note regarding the crowd. I was impressed with the large number of beautiful South African supporters. Australian crowds need to pick up their act in that area

I don't think we're a one trick pony but I think without him we're pretty much

back to the field. I saw the ball that hit Amla on the grill and it was just brutal.

Actually now that I think about it, we might be a 1 trick pony.

Would we win the next test without him? I'm not so sure.

IMO, Harris and Clarke might get picked in a world 11 but

that's about it.

Yes, not only do the SA have some stunners, Sky Sports don't mind showing them either.

Doubt anyone will get dropped, Wato's just as likely to break down again unfortunately.

Apparently the scheduling of starts is due to the test being so close(so the commentators reconed)
