Body found in Bangkok canal during search for PCAD weapons

Featured Replies

How many others did the monk's thugs murder?

You are speculating that this was definitely the work of Buddha Issara's group. Making an assumption of guilt without evidential proof is not only wrong and dangerous, it is downright stupid in the current climate.

We are all aware of your political leanings whether we agree with them or not, but you really ought to haul your neck in at least for a while, unless you're a firm believer in virtual reincarnation!! ?

But it remains ok to speculate endlessly about the role of the red shirts and indeed the Shinawatra family in violent events on dozens of threads?

Yes it is, learn the difference between speculation and declaration. One is ok without conclusive evidence, the other is not.

Heheheheh it gave the reds a headline to rally around, stories they could get there teeth in have been spars lately

It is a good thing the neighbors were concerned. might have never found the body otherwise.

Strangely it does not appear there was much in the way of weapons.

Who is taking bets on the "security" mob starting to sweat?

The head of security, someone who wears monk's clothes should be a very nervous little vegemite.

"......should be a very nervous little vegemite."

That'll be Marmite, if you don't mind.wink.png

Is there a current in that klong?

If so the body could easily have been washed down from farther upstream.

Would be best to wait for some ID for apparently there has been no one reported missing that could be linked to the body.

I prefer to wait for proof - not what you would `like to happen so you can twist it to suit ~K `thaksin However maybe ust for once in your life yo could agree that the army is doing a good ob or is that beyond you? ALSO no proof yet to WHO killed the poor soul maybe red shirts for all YOU know!!

Now you are just being ignorant. You have no idea of which side the body was on. Also what the reason for the killing was.

Or do you maybe you should report to the police with your inside information.whistling.gif

Face it there are likely crimes of the most heinous nature committed by both sides, id get off those high horses and expect the side you support to be just as dirty and sullied as the other you like to blame for everything.

Humans are capable of the very worst things and putting on any coloured t shirt dosnt change what they are capable of. Accept the likelihood your championing or defending murderers and ask yourself do you have the right to accuse another side when yours is likely to be no less guilty ..... 1 murder vs 10 by another would still make you a murderer

Whoever it was in that klong .. you were murdered, may those responsible be brought to account and your spirit laid to rest.RIP

You know PCAD will claim it was a Red Shirt who crept into their camp at night, wrapped himself in canvas and threw himself into the canal, after throwing in barbed wire and weapons to try and make the innocent PCAD guards look bad.

Will they? Look forward to reading that story then.

Guess that evil monk has just fled the country. His M.O

Is it? When did he do it before?

It has been said before but people are ignoring. Just for those flicking through.

This was at Government HOUSE on Rajdamneon (we can debate the transliteration another time) Avenue.

Buddha Issara was located in the Government COMPLEX site on Chaeng Wattana. These are separated by roughly 15km as the crow flies and represent 30 minutes by motorbike (I know it is a regular journey of mine).

Maybe the Monk is guilty of all you lay at his feet but the fact here is that he didn't have anything to do with this site. Move on and debate the right issue.

Hardly speculation when the facts speak for themselves.

They better dig deeper. I am sure there are many concrete shoes lying at the bottom. coffee1.gif

Remains of man found in canal near Government House, identity not established

BANGKOK: -- THE LOWER part of a human body and a large amount of explosives-related devices and weapons have been found in a canal near a rally site in Bangkok previously occupied by anti-goverment protests .

The items were discovered in a joint operation yesterday to comb the area for suspicious items.Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspects who allegedly took part in a deadly attack in Trat province on protesters against the Yingluck government in February.

One of the suspects has reportedly confessed to throwing a grenade at the crowd while the other denied involvement. The attack on the night of February 22, in which attackers fired automatic weapons and threw several grenades, killed three people, including two young girls, and wounded 30 others.

In Phadung Krung Kasem canal near Government House, in a section between Thewakam and Makkhawan bridges, the remains of a man was discovered. A search team of military and police divers also uncovered 19 detonators, knives, barbed wire, a flare, a smoke grenade, and a large amount of war weapon and handgun ammunition.

A deputy Bangkok police chief, Pol Maj General Itthiphol Phiriyaphinyo, said later the man in the canal died around a month ago, and it was not yet known whether a Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives' employee card found nearby was his. The lower part of the body was initially in two sandbags. The skull was retrieved later.

Body found

The canal section where the body was found was occupied in rotation by either the anti-Yingluck government groups, the Dharma Army or the Students and People's Network for Thailand's Reform, said the officer.

In the police investigation on the Trat attack, Somsak Phoolsawas - who they say confessed to throwing a grenade at the People's Democratic Reform Committee rally - took part in a re-enactment of his alleged crimes yesterday. He was arrested on Monday, along with Watchara Krajangklang, wanted with three members of his clan.

Police say Watchara admitted only to possessing weapons and munitions, but denied taking part in the attack.

Police also seized two AK-47 assault rifles and a large number of munitions, along with three magazines, a large number of handgun rounds, 200 ping pong bombs, field equipment and materials prepared as shrapnel, police said.

Key evidence is a Toyota pickup reportedly seen in surveillance camera footage of the Trat attack on February 22.

How many times has the monk fled the country before? His MO?

What has the monk got to do with this rally site?

I guess that people that make guesses about a monk, when the monk has absolutely nothing to do with the news story, have an MO of not thinking and false and baseless accusation.

There is no speculation regarding the Shinwatra clan or the Red Shirts. The evidence of their activities is freely a available via the public domain and of course also the Thai judicial system and public opinion.

It is rather sad that you are able to judge one and find them guilty on no evidence apart from what may be or actually is indoctrinated into your mind, yet the other party you idolise are judged to be lily white vestal virgins.

One is led to wonder whether your ancestors may have been leaders in lynching parties and vigilante justice parties?

Perhaps you would be so kind as to reveal to us all just how talented you are and thus able to turn a pigs ear into a silk purse.

Perish the thought though that we might be accused of considering you biased of course.

And why not, their actions are well documented.

Are you sure of that? For myself, of course only, but I haven't seen a single shred of documentation on the ability of the red shirts to infiltrate a killer into the midst of a crowd of Network of Students and People for the Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) protesters, conduct a murder, successfully stash the body, attract no attention EVER from the NSPRT people who never missed the, er, missing victim, and get out without detection.

Can you point to some of that documentation?

Because that is what you and others are alleging happened here - that one or more red shirts infiltrated the NSPRT crowd that took over Government House on behalf of the Suthepians, did the killing and body hiding, and got out without being detected. There is no other explanation IF you are correct.

Like the man (more likely a woman) said, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. But let's start with anything you've got.

That's a challenge by the way. Nonsense and urban legends deserve to be shot down quickly and very hard. So come up with some evidence or just drop this absurd, nonsensical fantasy. The third option is that you will be mocked and have no credibility the next time you drop some theory on this often unwitting and almost always uncritical group - even if your next theory is plausible.

How many others did the monk's thugs murder?

Are you suggesting that the deceased was murdered in Chaengwattana and taken into town to be thrown in the klong?

I don't think that's a particularly Holmesian deduction.

If the body turns out to be unrelated to the protests I'd expect you to eat your words

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

There are not enough details yet to know who did it, but it sure is a possibility that the PCAD did it.

Funny that they almost found no weapons while complete arsenals are found with the reds... says it all of course.

Actually (from the Thai press):

In the canal [where the body was found], authorities also found 19 rods for explosive fuses, a used handheld flare, a grenade pin, seven 5.56mm bullets that can be used with M16 rifles, 39 used 9mm bullet shells and 46 used 11mm bullet cases.

Guess that evil monk has just fled the country. His M.O

Guess your nasty self just makes up lies. Your M.O.

If the body turns out to be unrelated to the protests

A very real possibility in a city of 10 million people where unrelated-to-protests murders occur all too frequently.

No, it is a bare possibility. And I only say that because I never say "never".

The place and surrounding area where the body was found has been under constant and strong... shall we say "occupation" for quite a long time, well before the killing, which was very roughly a month ago. It's barely possible it was unrelated to the pro-Suthep mobs (plural) but the possibility is very, very close to zero that it had nothing to do with protests. When the actual pro-Suthep people were not at Government House, troops or police or some other force with protest connections WERE there. Chances this is a "10 million people in the Naked City..." event are as close to nil as possible. This is a protest murder, just as close as "damn" is to swearing.

How many others did the monk's thugs murder?

After more news comes out it seems this was NOT near where the monk was. I guess you are now going to say you were wrong and admit it ?

But there were other anti government groups there but that does not mean that it was done by those.. if so i hope they get punished.

I can't believe that divers are in that canal. What courage. They should receive all sorts of danger money and bravery awards!

This body could have been disposed of by anyone or any group. Thailand, like any other nation, has murders that don't have a political motive. Please don't be so quick to allocate blame.

They probably also want to blame him for the deaths in the Ukraine :) Doesn't need to be rational, just fit an agenda.

Just for our peace of mind, Lumpini lake should be dredged and grounds examined for burial sites. I bet something unpleasant will be found.
