Ive been thinking about giving a Windows phone a try smile.png and thought the NOKIA Lumia 630 Dual sim model looked ok . I had checked the spec out here ( Nokia Thailand ) - http://www.nokia.com/th-th/phones/phone/lumia630-dual-sim/specifications/

which shows this -

  • โครงข่าย WCDMA: 900 MHz, 2,100 MHz
  • ความเร็วการดาวน์โหลดสูงสุด WCDMA: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps
  • ความเร็วการอัพโหลดสูงสุด WCDMA: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps
  • โครงข่าย GSM: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 1,900 MHz
  • ความเร็วการดาวน์โหลดสูงสุด GSM: EGPRS 296.0 kbps
  • ความเร็วการอัพโหลดสูงสุด GSM: EGPRS 236.8 kbps

as I am using a True Move H 3 G sim ( 850mhz ) I want the phone to have this 850 mhz setting but the settings above show - WCDMA: 900 MHz, 2,100 MHz

I all so have seen the 3 g settings shown here - http://www.thaimobilecenter.com/spec/Nokia-Lumia-630-Dual-SIM.asp

which show the 3 G settings as --

ระบบสัญญาณ Dual Mode (WCDMA/GSM)
- WCDMA/HSDPA Quad Band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz)
- GSM Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

I have had a play with the 630 Dual sim in a jaymart shop and asked the girl what the 3G settings was for the 630 Dual sim and she said 900 / 2100 mhz

My thai is not good so may be I got a bit confused rolleyes.gif

or may be i am missing some thing whistling.gif is the Nokia 630 Dual sim - WCDMA/HSDPA Quad Band 850/900/1900/2100 MHz or WCDMA: 900 , 2,100 MHz

has any one got the Nokia 630 Dual sim and can confirm what the 3G settings are , or any one know

Phones often have different editions for different markets. It looks to me very much like the particular phone you saw is AIS-only, and will NOT work for 3G networking with your True SIM. I wouldn't get it if I were you.

One more definitive way to check is to ask to see the box - the frequencies will be printed on it. If it doesn't say 850 for WCDMA then its not right for you.

The Nokia 630 work perfectly on the Truemove network, to be honest Truemove sells them themselves http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/product/detail/1628/Nokia_Lumia_630#promotion

The official specs for the Nokia 630 are:

Network - WCDMA network: 850 MHz, 2100 MHz
- WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps
- WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps
- GSM network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
- GSM max data speed DL: EGPRS 296.0 kbps
- GSM max data speed UL: EGPRS 236.8 kbps

Sorry - Its just hit me sad.pngthe Nokia Lumia 630 is sold in Thailand as two models

1. The Nokia Lumia 630 ( One SIM ) - Price 4,990 Baht

2. The Nokia Lumia 630 ( Dual SIM ) -Price 5,190 Baht

and I think that there may be a difference in the 3g settings between them , but not sure this may be where my confusion is . I did in the jaymart shop ask to see the Dual SIM version's box but it had '' No '' specification details printed on the out side of the box at all bah.gif, and the sales girl would not open the box unless I was going to buy it .

Ive had a quick look but so far but I can't find any confirmation about the two models having different 3G settings , but ive got a funny feeling that the The Nokia Lumia 630 ( One SIM ) has - WCDMA/HSDPA Quad Band 3 G (850/900/1900/2100 MHz)

and theThe Nokia Lumia 630 ( Dual SIM ) has WCDMA: 3 G ( 900 MHz, 2,100 MHz )

That really surprises me.

Hrm what about part number? There must be some kind of part number on the box somewhere? You could google that and see what the net says.

GSMarena listing for the 630 dual sim *is* 900/2100 only:

http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_630_dual_sim-6255.php

from that page I see "RM-978" as the part number, and googling that I find myself getting to:

http://www.nokiapoweruser.com/2014/03/11/two-dual-sim-variants-of-lumia630-rm-978-rm-979-pass-through-fcc/

So there's quite a bit of evidence that it really is 900/2100 only.

actually the lack of printed specifications on the box doesn't surprise me as much anymore - if the product ONLY does particular frequencies there's less of a need to make a distinction on the box so that staff don't hand out the wrong model... either that phone model is right for you or it isn't, and you can do that from the "marketing name" itself, no need to double-check...

Just checked this out - http://news.siamphone.com/news-16903.html

and it shows the Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM as having - 3G WCDMA : 850/900/1900/2100MHz

but all so on the same review it shows a photo of the Dual SIM slots , as being the RM-978

All so Jaymart are showing the Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM as having - 3G HSPA+ 850/900/1900/2100

It looks like the only indication on the packing box as to the phones radio bands is shown by the RM number , this photograph is from an Indian YouTube un boxing of a Nokia Lumia 630 Dual sim version.

630V_zps5bb880b8.jpg

There seems to be several world wide variations for the 630

All variants have GSM 850/900/1800/1900

RM-976 Rest of World 3G 900 / 2100

RM-977 Americas 3G 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

RM-978 Rest of World 3G 900 / 2100 Dual-SIM

RM-979 Brazil 3G 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 Dual-SIM with SBTVD (Brazilian terrestrial digital TV standard) - realized with additional app.

The certification for the 630 in Thailand lists both Single-sim and Dual-Sim variants , are shown here on this web site

So may be have a look for the RM number on the packing box , just why Nokia do not print the actual radio bands etc of the phone on the packing box is crazy .

I am also interested in this phone, Win op system might be worth trying and I beleive Nokia phones have very good off-line maps preinstalled.

Will check more into Win phone, which aps can be had and so on.

So for DTAC/True, probably have to find RM-977 then? Seems implausible they'll sell RM-979 anywhere here (lack of Brazilian broadcast TV, for one thing).

It seems that many Thai web sites are showing the 3G band specification for the Nokia 630 dual sim version incorrectly, as shown in this Jaymart web page

JM1_zps3b055484.jpg

I got my wife to telephone Jaymart head office and ask about the phones specification , she was told that the Nokia Lumia 630 dual sim advert was in fact wrong and the 3G band for Thailand is 900/2100mhz ( RM-978 )

My wife just purchased the single SIM version and on the box it shows RM-977 ( 3G 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 )

RM_zps8a8e7f12.jpg

I'm sure by '' not having'' the dual sim RM-979 version on sale in Thailand , Nokia are missing out on many potential sales.

As a side note , after playing with the wife's Nokia 630 One sim version , I'm very impressed but sadly for me I would only buy the dual sim version ( RM-979 ) if it was available .

off topic but I have bought a lumia 520 in the UK but it will not recognise my ais sim card or my girlfriends true sim card, any ideas? The phone is unlocked.

Thank you.

Are you 100% sure it's unlocked?

How old are the simcards?

Are the Nokia batteries removable? Most phones I've seen have a sticker under the battery that states that phones band specs.

My wife's new Nokia Lumia 630 ( One SIM ) has a removable battery , but theres nothing shown when you remove the battery

inserted_zps8bd5d4e0.jpg

removed_zpse4d90d77.jpg

It seems that theres no indication of the phones radio bands any where physically on the phone or packing box , I did notice while checking out this phone in a mobile phone shop , one of the boxes I was handed did have a small sticker placed over the RM- number saying it was 900MHZ ( a dual band version ) but I only saw this on one phone packing box, the rest only showed the RM number

Its the first time that ive come across a mobile phone for sale that does not show the phones radio bands on the packing box or phone rolleyes.gif

As I wrote this post I remembered seeing a very small booklet that came with the phone ( written in Thai )

This booklet seems to out line what the bands should be ( RM numbers ) but to see this booklet the phone has to be removed from its new sealed

packing box , which some mobile phone shops seem not happy to do unless you are actually buying the phone , when I originally asked at several mobile phone shops about the phones radio frequencies and RM number ,, the answer back was not sure .rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the info thumbsup.gif

I just noticed that Jaymart has up dated their web page , so I checked out the Nokia Lumia 630 ( Dual SIM ) and its still being shown with the wrong specification whistling.gif

I can only wonder if any one purchased the Nokia Lumia 630 ( Dual SIM ) directly from the jaymart web site thinking that the phone had the exact specification as shown there , but found when they received the phone it would not work on their SIM card bah.gif

A little late in this thread but have you noticed that the Nokia 630 has no front facing camera? Not a big issue as little as a year ago but with the exploding popularity of messaging apps such as LINE and WHAT'sAP, selfies have become mainstream and the girls seem to love them. They also like to use the phone's front camera as sort of a mirror when checking their make up.

Better check with the intended recipient first or you might find yourself getting an annoyed pout instead of a grateful smile.

Ive used my wife's Nokia Lumia 630 ( single SIM ) and have found the Windows phone 8.1 experience to be fluid and smooth in operation , and there seems to be a daily increase in apps available , but like you say the lack of a front camera and for me a rear camera flash are a negativesad.png

As for the elusive Nokia Lumia 630 Dual SIM ( RM-979 ) 3G 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - thats not on sale in Thailand , but advertised on the jaymart web site , it seems its only on sale in Brazil , as shown here -
