Musical Memories..

Featured Replies

I was driving to work tonight listening to a local radio station. I always listen to this station on a Friday night cos it plays tracks from the 80's (the show is called school days) and it's nice to listen to some songs from back then.

Anyway.. one particular song came on and loads of memories came flooding back... Made me cringe, almost turned my cheeks red.. embarrassment.gif

It was about this girl I met at a party years back.. the song was playing while I was on the sofa sticking me tongue down her throat..

I'd completely forgot about her .. being so long ago.. but hearing that song brought it all back... it was as if I was there yesterday..

I only went out with her a couple of times after.. to the cinema I think.. didn't even get me fingers sticky.... :o

ah..the good old days..

So.. what songs bring back the memories for you.. good and bad..and embarrassing... ?

totster :D

BTW - the song was Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry

Oh Good goD!!!!! There must be a million... Half of them I wouldn´t be caught dead listening to, though...

Any song by the Cure is a good bet though, and those I happily listen to.

Sometimes you just sit there feeling content with a memory also though.

I get that with the cure´s Pictures of you

Sad, melancholic, yet utterly content with a time and a very very special person, I once had the pleasure of knowing.

Today at 4:45 AM I was on my way to work and the radio was playing Rape Me, by Nirvana. This song came from the most chilling record they did, In Utero. It was chilling before Kurt shot myself, but afterwards...... :o

Well, I remember that time in my life all too well.

TBB, just worked out the apporximate dates.

I gotcha bro.

I lost my virginity listening to Stairway to Heaven. The live version...

Rolf Harris' version? :o

with a didgeridoo........

I got hold of the bbc sessions and that for me has now become the definitive version of stairway for me.

They'd just finished writing that album, and Jimmy actually missed his cue to break into the big solo, starting a bar or two late.

Now this could make an interesting thread. I lost mine listening to Jethro Tull (can't remember the name of the album) David Bowie, space oddity, and get this, the 1812 overture. Now that's an eclectic mix!

Who else want's to share?

I was just brought back to the song, Cliché (lyrics on musical er....wisdom thread, think) by fish (lead singer of marillion)

to me, one of the best love songs. As an amateur songwrite, I know the feeling when words just FLOW out through you. As I read these lyrics, I know that the words just came, so natural, and it comes out brillantly.

I felt so in love at that time.. with an ex, unfortunately.

Since I've been Loving you - Zep

I was about to lose my loving mind, and then I met she.......it is lost forever.... :D

Still gives me ostrich bumps when I hear the solo............. :o

top tune too!

David Bowie - Starman :o

Well, there I was last Sunday afternoon - swinging in a hammock at Nikita's, on the seafront in Rawai- watching a dark storm approach from the east. A sea gypsy was rowing, yes rowing, his water craft across the bay in an attempt to reach shore before the deluge.

The funky Thai cafe was airing a regional radio station from Singapore. Cat Stevens cut into the scene - singing "Wild World". My mind went back to the early '80's, when I left my first love. He wanted a castle and babies, I wanted to travel the world. He played me Wild World to say goodbye.

The storm passed, a rainbow appeared ... another rainbow in my life. All my rainbows are special. I shan't forget this one!

Nice Khall. Very very nice.

See from what yall talk here I don't think khall, we share the same tune here but h*** why not share what's mine.

This is tough!! Too many with the memories!! Make it quick for now. My My My by Johnny Gill - my prom song and that's obvious what I had on that night :o Such a good time back in the days.

legag, i like and hate the way you keep bringing up old threads. Good memories - but i have to admit the whole wide web world now knows that i lost mine to Stairway to Heaven. And i am sure the guy who was there at the same time can't even remember my name`!!! By the way his was Alex..... Well it was over 19 and a half years ago....

but i have to admit the whole wide web world now knows that i lost mine to Stairway to Heaven.

Don't worry Patsy, not the whole web know. Only those with access to Bedlam :o

I really feel you patsycat!! (not like the way Stairway To Heaven) - that's one of the oldies and goodies. Did he play "Forever Mine" afterward?? I guess not!! Bastard!! :o
