Software Program to show PC Performance

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a Software Program that I can install to show my PC performance. I run multiple programs at the same time and just wanted to check my PC Performance.

whistling.gif What I think you are looking for is a program called System Mechanic Professional.

It is available on line from a company called IOLO.

It can be downloaded, installed and run for the sum of about $ 24.95 for first time users (introductory price) to maybe $29.95,

I believe it takes about 150 megs on your hard drive.(approximately)

The first time you run it will characterize your system and tell you what it finds wrong with your hard drive system and recommend fixes to maximize your system.

If you subscribe to this program (one year subscription) it will also defrag your hard drive and give you a regular update of the latest virus protection and malware protection on a regular basis.

I have used this program for quite a few years now......and I use it regularly to protect from viruses and malware from the internet.

Go to the URL www.iolo.com and take a look at the products offered there.

Depending on your operating system, try using Task Manager. Right-click on your taskbar and select task manager from the menu.

To expand, click on the More Details in the bottom left.

If you have never used it before it is worth going through the tabs, it will be 10 minutes not wasted.......................wink.png

I think chrisinth is writing about Performance Monitor and Resource Monitor

Easiest way I know to access these is

tap WindowsKey then type Task Manager the select the "Performance" tab (the additional Resource Monitor is available by selecting the link at the bottom of the display window)

...or tap WindowsKey then type Resource Monitor

...or WindowsKey + R (run/open:) resmon to access the Resource Monitor desktop app separately.

While this allows you to view your current CPU, DISK, NETWORK, and MEMORY usage/statistics, the tool won't provide any benchmark results compared to other systems.

But it IS a great way to see what's active on your system.

For more info take a look at this HOW-TO GEEK SCHOOL article, USING WINDOWS ADMIN TOOLS LIKE A PRO

Using the Windows built-in Task Manager, Performance and Resource Monitor selections is a quick and easy way to see how your computer resources (i.e., CPU, Memory, Disk, Internet, & Wifi) are being utilized. Can show you what percentage of your CPU horsepower is being used, how much RAM is being used, see how much CPU percentage individual programs are using, etc. Play around with the menu selections in Task Manager...lots performance info can be obtained.

Quite a few ways to open Task Manager as mentioned in above posts...for me I just simultaneously press the Cntl-Alt-Del keys and then select Task Manager.

For example, below a snapshot of my i7 based CPU, 4 core/8 threads, 8GB RAM, Win 10 Pro, etc., laptop with only Chrome running in the foreground as I write this post...and of course it has a bunch of stuff running in the background like my AntiVirus, bootup utilities, etc. As you'll see it's using very little CPU percentage. Now when I look at the CPU utilization on my 8 year old Intel Celeron CPU, 1 core/1 thread, and only having 2GB of RAM running Win 7 just opening one browser page like ThaiVisa can easily max out the CPU utilization to 100% and push the RAM utilization right up to almost 2GB also. If it wasn't for being able to use a PageFile to generate virtual memory and having a SSD this old laptop would be almost too slow to use with current day software.

Thanks guys lots of knowledgeable people on this forum.

Download this free software, Process Explorer, that will display what is running with details and will display the PC`s performance. It`s like a glorified Task Manager with tons more functions and unlike Task Manager you can get to the source of what is running and details of the programmes running, plus detailed performance levels, all easy to read, ideal for the layman.

No need to install, just download the exe file, click on and you`re good to go.
