BANGKOK: -- A new round of strong cold front from China is moving down to blanket Thailand's upper north region this weekend, and is expected to cause turbulent weather that will bring heavy thunder rainstorms and sharp fall in temperatures.

A new round of strong cold front from China is moving down to blanket Thailand’s upper north region this weekend, and is expected to cause turbulent weather that will bring heavy thunder rainstorms and sharp fall in temperatures.

The Meteorological Department said today the strong cold front has covered central China and is now moving down to cover the upper north region if the country from January 23-25.

Turbulent weather is expected when the cold front expands, starting from thunder storms and strong winds.

Temperatures will then fall sharply from 6-10 degrees Celsius in the country’s northeast region and spread later to other regions.

Meanwhile the arrival of the cold front will also strengthen the northeasterly wind that is blowing pass the South and the Gulf of Thailand. This will result in strong and high waves of 2-3 metres high in the sea.

It warned that small boats should avoid sailing into high sea during the period, while residents living near the southeastern shorelines stay alert of strong waves on the beaches.

Yay ! Thunderstorms ! w00t.gif

My dried-up lawns will perhaps turn green again, while I sit on the covered-terrace with a cold beer, wearing a sweater ! partytime2.gif

Can't say I'm sorry to see colder weather in Udon Thani; we've had no winter this year. And the rain will be welcome so that I can check for leaks in our new roof out back.

Your all dreamers

Dont understand your comment. This cold climate has been predicted on all major weather web sites for this weekend since at least a week...

It is far from unusual to see big swings in temperature here, not long in Thailand yet, are you?

Time to get that plane up and start rain seeding clouds. Let the people see it up there and when the storms come they can then think what a wonderful and creative thinking government they have. thumbsup.gif

Had 5 hours of solid rain early Friday morning here in Loei and a little this morning. The temperatures have seen me now using a doona and, on occasions, long woolen pj's. Must be old age setting in. Has got down to as low as 12 degrees over the past month but quite warm during the day. makes for enjoyable living.

It is still hot in Surin, no rain

Also still hot in BKK...no rain. We had rain for a few days last week though the heat never left
Eh ? It's 10am and currently a very pleasant 25 degrees in Bangkok, a good 6 or more degrees lower than normal. Cooler weather forecast through to Wednesday also. Daytime highs of 26-30 for next few days, back up to 35 by Friday. Enjoy it while it lasts ! Edited by realfunster
