Four Myanmar men at the Chiang Mai City Police Station after they were caught bare-chested Thursday evening.

CHIANG MAI — A crackdown on shirtlessness this Songkran continued for a second day in Chiang Mai, with four men arrested for wearing what a police commander called “really ugly” attire.

Police identified the four men as Tai Yai, or members of Myanmar’s ethnic Shan group. They were arrested Thursday night and fined 500 baht for going shirtless, according to Chiang Mai City Police Station chief Weerayuth Prasopchokechai, while participating in the mass watery combat for which the festival is known.

No picture of the arresting officer, perhaps on the way to Bangkok to be given the above and beyond medal.

Those boys seem to quite proud that they are worth 5 times that of a scruffy westerner.

When I first came her Songran was a happy affair. THe police wore their oldest uniforms and had their guns in plastic bags and covered their hats with pink shower caps. They knew they would get half drowned and they loved it. Now they are dry serious and try to stop all the fun.

I know change is inevitable but I think this change is a sad one.

I would gladly pay the fine for the guy on the far left.

If I had that body I would be flaunting it too ..

I'm here in Phuket on holiday, there are plenty of crimes against humanity walking around along the street.

I thought speedos were considered ugly attire.
