RLAretired Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 In Bangna (or close by) what is a nice restaurant with Western food; suitable for a dinner with businessmen coming from US? They will stay at Novotel Bangna hotel, so within about 30 minutes drive from there. At that hotel, the buffet is very nice, but visitors will eat there every day, so looking for some place different. Thai food easy to find, of course. What is confounding me is finding a business-class restaurant with good Western food in that area: imported steaks, quality seafood, home-made pasta, etc., prepared to Western recipes. Not pizza and beer. Not fish sauce and lemon grass. Want quiet atmosphere without TVs or loud cheering from the bar. Sit-down service; not a buffet. And without driving into downtown Bangkok. If they were staying in mid-Sukhumvit, my choice would be Chesa restaurant in soi 20. But that’s just too far from Bangna. My fall-back plan is Bourbon Street in Ekamai: always excellent food and good service, but TVs everywhere and, at times, crowded. Is there some place with fine food and quiet atmosphere in the vicinity of Bangna? Any thoughts?
smutcakes Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 There are obviously loads of restaurants around Ekkamai or Thonglor so i will ignore those. Why not just go to Mega Bangna, there is lots of choice there?
mightyharriss Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Londoner on Pattanakarn between 32-30 not 15 minute from the Novotel, the second floor is free from tv screens and a good environment.
dddave Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 (edited) There is a HUGE Chinese restaurant: "The Royal Dragon"..., between Bi-Tec and Central Bang Na (Bi-Tec side, set way back). At one time and perhaps still, one of the largest restaurants in the world. They have excellent food, both Thai & Chinese with some western selections as well. They hold elaborate stage shows centered around a large inner pool and pavilion with classical Thai dancing and some great entertainment acts. It is so large, servers wear roller skates. When I was there, at one point, waiters came down wire slides from the roof, holding flaming cakes. ..quite a show really. They do have private dining rooms available of various sizes, maybe worth checking for your group. My visit was five years ago but I believe it is still going strong. No, it is neither quiet or business like (stuffy?) but I can pretty much guarantee your business group will have more fun and amusement as well as decent food there than any place nearby. http://www.royal-dragon.com/aboutus.htm Edited December 16, 2016 by dddave
