A dangerous intersection that has seen many deaths on the Ayuthaya - Sena Road claimed another two lives on Friday.

The deaths came as workers prepare to install a U-turn to alleviate the problem.

Two pick-ups collided at the Wat Phra Khao intersection in Bang Ban district. The crossroads has no traffic lights.

Dead in an Isuzu were mother and daughter Yupin Kamteng, 46, and Sunisa, 17. Driver Sarayuth was behind the wheel and severely injured and taken to hospital in Ayuthaya. The pick-up ended up on its side.

Further along the road with its front smashed in was a Toyota Vigo. Its three unnamed male occupants were all seriously hurt and taken to hospital in Sena.

A Honda car swerved to avoid the debris and its driver was only slightly hurt.

The family was on their way home to Bang Sai after visiting a temple.

A U-turn is under construction 500 meters up the road from the intersection but is not yet in operation.

Sadly, they are going to be a small part in the usual large number of dead

and injured in those 7 days of mayhem and carnage.... let's hope

that I'm wrong...

Consider ALL  intersections, dangerous as

a matter of course, driving here you drive with total focus

at all times front back to the side,  ahead,  mirrors and mirrors,

I drive my vehicles like I am riding my motor bike, Everything on the road

is treated as a hazard,

many close calls, from people in la la land when they are driving, poor judgment

and inattentive observation combined with a skill set garnished from incompetent teachers!

the road toll will continue unabated.

365 days of mayhem and carnage

Be sure never to stop at an intersection or traffic lights.

While waiting quietly there you will be crushed by an out of control truck or mobile crane.

If you are a motorcyclist sitting there a car or minivan will do the job just as efficiently.

Just keep moving............driving/riding "defensively" of course.

The Thai system of U turns in the face of oncoming traffic on the busiest highways borders on suicidal.  I saw my first ever underpass set-up for a U turn in Phuket recently, and hope they continue with this idea on all highways.   There's enough cars on the roads to cover the costs.

My wife and her friend were returning in  taxi from Samut Sakhon the other day and passed a people van, crashed with people dead and injured.

I've seen nothing on the news or internet, nothing unusual, very sad.

RIP.

It wouldn't matter if the crossroads did have lights in most cases....

Condolences to the Families....

RIP victims of your local do nothing police and government.

" Be sure never to stop at an intersection or traffic lights",  you cannot be serious, are you actually saying we should just go through the traffic lights even if they are at red?

Are you trolling?

because its too easy to slow down and check its safe! :coffee1:

Turn arounds? Many just drive on the wrong side of the road for a while to avoid using those. Its going to be a long bloody holiday I'm afraid. I see they have set up the sobering up areas near me now. No tickets just coffee, water and eats.

Have just come back home from doing a bit of shopping. Decided to use the 1AR for the return, silly really should have come back through town.

I only had to travel less than 2km to my turn off. But in the time it took to do so there were 3 accidents, 2 minor Butt shunts, and one we are not going anywhere with their Rad buggered. That was around 4pm Buddha only know what it'll be like later in the dark and peeps having a few beer's inside them. My tip for the New Year is stay indoors.

My New Tear resolution is to get rid as many road menace if possible in Thailand

Oh come on possum, do you think he is being serious

Probably not, but I did ask if he was trolling. There are some things that posters in any forum will say that is way off the mark, ie, how many posters actually think that Thailand gives expats and longstay tourists a good deal? Off topic, but just an example.

ah, that good old thai road safety measure, the U turn. be careful out there.

Roundabouts, Thailand. Roundabouts.

Roundabouts would be safe replacements for so many intersections, with the rule of giving way to traffic already on the roundabout. Traffic flow would increase massively. A month of TV adverts between channel 3 soap operas and the Sunday Muay Thai and the whole country will understand how to use them, and I believe there would be a huge reduction in the number of fatalities on the roads.

Thanks but I think that it's a TV topic to bring such possibilities to the attention of Thai drivers and suggesting they leave safe breaking distances etc.

The accident shown happened in China I believe.

When they drive that close, it only takes a second of eyes off the road for something like that to happen.

The Highway Patrol Unit highway service Pong district. Ratchaburi had posted a video of the accident on a Facebook page..

Many thanks laislica. Apologies everyone, please ignore my post.
