Laser Level Receiver/detector

Has anyone bought a laser level detector on line or here in Thailand?

A while ago I bought a laser level on line here in Thailand. It is a red laser outdoor model.

At the time I enquired about a detector, but received no answer.

There are laser detectors advertised on line here in Thailand (currently out of stock), but the price of near B7000 compared to about B1500 from China seems too high.

Also I can't find any specs. for the detectors, if they are red or green lasers, as I think the receive frequency of the detectors would be difference, or does a laser detector cover both frequencies?

I think your talking about a laser transit that's audible at your set height. Nice, but they can be spendy, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them in the big chain stores here. The cheap laser levels are definitely around like the EuroX I bought in Global for around B2,800. ???

The cheap ones will do vertical & horizontal, they're pretty accurate but forget about seeing that line outdoors in the day. I used it for laying out my garage slab (little slope on it) and some plumbing. Done in the evenings  nautical twilight.

Thanks. I've tried mine outdoors, on the outdoor power setting and you can see it, but be nice to have an audible detector. I'm digging a big hole 2.2 m deep for 3m then sloping up 8m to 1.2 m for 3 m.
The guys around here want to use a bit of ukka wood, I just wanted the machine dig to be more accurate.

Did you verify that the online 7000thb detectors here are of a good brand and not chinese import?

The stuff offered in global, homepro and the like are often chinese brands as well and the prices are usually almost or more than double then when ordered online at the chinese sites, which often deliver free at your door.

This reminds me of NASA spending millions of dollars perfecting a pen that can write in space.....the Russians just used a pencil.

I bought a second hand trimble LL400 for 45,000 baht here a couple of years back for levelling some land.Worked fine at the start covering 400 metres but something changed and it's only good for about 30 metres now.Problem in Thailand is finding a technician to look at it,even the trimble distributor here won't look at it saying it has to be sent overseas to be looked at.

Very frustrating.

All depends on the accuracy you require, what size area and who is using it.

I've had and seen some costly mistakes with people using water levels,i think there ok for

a starting point.

I am sure people have made big mistakes with high end GPS based survey units too.

I think the problem you face is how serious you are compared to how serious the guy in the machinery is going to be.

But I can't give you any advice about that. It happens to me all of the time.

I suppose it's me wanting to have a go using the laser.

Anyway, got a tripod and 3 m extendable staff/measuring stick this morning. No rx.

We'll see what happens. I'm sure my Thai building friends will sort me out.

Could you supply a link where you found the laser level online?

I tried for a while to find a laser detector on Thai language sites to no avail.

Not even certain how it is described/name in Thai.

Maybe your source could be a starting point.

There not hard to use, just remember the reason you got a laser is you want to be within a millimetre or less otherwise just use a water level.

No, really, I bought it all to have a go using it. I talked to my Thai farmer/helper today and he wants to use the level to make sure the rectangular slab (14 x 4 m) has right angled sides. Previously we (him and I), used the 3, 4, 5 right triangle method. An Isaan farmer with a laser level, that's progress. [emoji38]

I found lots of laser levels on Lazada. You have to search. The Laser Receiver is a bit trickier to search. Think it was on Lazada as well, but only one brand for around B 7000. I think I searched 'Laser detector, or Laser Receiver'. Same brand from China is only about B1000 odd.

I'm sure you could make a laser detector using the red laser detector circuit, into a raspberry microprocessor, then to a sonic sounder.....a project for next year.

There are also lots of cheap car laser detectors for sale, the ones that detect police radar, but I'm not sure what frequency they work on, probably not red light lasers.
