Pattaya police nowhere to be found as injured tourists complain

PATTAYA: -- Just hours after a top brass policeman visited Pattaya to pledge safety for tourists all the cops seem to have deserted their post, reported TNews.

Several tourists were set upon and suffered head injuries on Sunday night in South Pattaya but while foundation medics were available to patch them up the police were nowhere to be seen.

Earlier in the afternoon Sunday Region 2 commander Sarawut Tansakun had been inspecting the readiness of his men in the area to help tourists who might get in trouble.

But reporters who went to the resort to see for themselves found a different story as thousands celebrated Songkran in areas designated for water fights, some of which turned ugly.

TNews reported that the injured tourists went back to their hotels after finding no police on duty at a tent set up to help them.

Think he was lucky not to be arrested.

as he did the Wan%%r sign to a cop

what a nice chap.

No money to be made from it. Besides, they were probably staying inside where it was nice and dry.

As I stated on another thread - there are gangs of drunk/drugged up youths touring Pattaya looking for trouble.

This whole Songkran thing has got out of hand in Pattaya, one day is enough of this stupidity, some think it is good for business when the reality is that lots of people either leave or stay away from it, I am seeing empty bars and businesses closed everywhere in the city

another 3 days to go!

wan Lai

They had thier little charade and photo op and now its business as usual.  Tourists can report crimes and incidents at 7/11.

Once more the only sane response would be to fire the lot of them. Of course that won't happen

maybe better that way :whistling:

Do some tourists actually visit Pattaya specifically for Songkran ? I go there regularly but can't imagine a worse place to be for this juvenile waterfight marathon.

You are on your own in Pattaya as the cops prefer the air-con down at the station. To force them to walk the beat would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Can anyone suggest a number, per shift ( - day-shift / back-shift / night-shift ?), for the total number of Policemen who work ( = are employed) in Central Pattaya ?

Perhaps they were patrolling elsewhere - looking for topless Songkran revelers.  Priorities.

Sure they do. Just look at them.Any more questions

From the photos  I've seen of Songkran revellers, lots are tourists. Why are they complaining when they know exactly how this madness ends ? All drunken idiots.

It's best to stay inside during 'The Purge'.

One of my favorite series 4 now I think. Not out of the realm of possibility for the future.

Make sure you have 10 bahts with you at all times to call 919 to get a busy signal.

Need help from these people? Probably pray to the roadside tree spirits and they would respond even faster!

Party if you like but anyone been to Pattaya, live here, for Songkran know these tourist drink themselves into trouble, of course that is in general. The funding just isn't there nor the system setup for them to to respond in 5 minutes for any emergency don't hold your breath so don't put yourself in a position for something to happen.
