I've been looking around CM for a deep freezer like this:
deep-freezers-250x250.jpg

I've checked Siam TV, Global, Makro, and various appliance stores but can only find refrigerator/freezer combination.  But I'm looking for a chest-style deep freezer.  Easy to find in the USA, but here?  TIT

Thai prefer fresh food - which is easily available just about anywhere with trucks selling door to door if unable to visit local market - so freezers are not common.  That said there normally are several smaller units available from HomePro type places and there does appear to be more choice than even a few years ago (as more families have nobody at home to buy during day as have to work frozen is starting to become a requirement - with current policy to close street food it could become even more so.

I haven't checked at Home Pro Chiang Mai yet.  Guess they will be the next stop.

Makro have a selection and any large electrical appliance sellers have them,

plenty of choices in sizes , manufacturers, and prices.

P.S. you say you have been to Makro, the one on Super Highway has a selection,

right hand side as you enter.

I've seen them in the appliance dept of Central Dept store back when they sold large appliances there, but never a large selection.  Presumably they're at Power Buy now, since Central moved their large appliance sales to the Power Buy across from the northwest corner of the Old City.

Sometimes it's nice to have a chest freezer to take advantage of sales and to freeze fruits and veggies when they're in season.  We had a small one in the U.S. to freeze nothing but fresh blueberries.  We lived in blueberry country and knew growers, so we'd get a good deal.  Every week during the season I'd freeze  5 pounds until the freezer was full.  We enjoyed blueberry pancakes nearly every day of the year.  Made with such big, juicy berries that you didn't need syrup.

Perhaps Connda has a similar fondness for a local seasonal fruit or veggie that freezes well.

We only shop once a week, so freeze bread, milk, (must be fresh),the bread comes out

just as fresh as it goes in,

Need to look for new one as well,as the one we have is at least 15 years old,but still

working ok, just the seal, but don't know where to get one ,don't think a new one would last as long.

Lazada sell them, we bought 1 a year ago, works perfect.

And Lazada sells COD, not "pay now and we deliver to you sometime, OK"

Looks like Lazada got the best deals and most models.

I got mine 2 year ago secondhand , the guy wanted 4 .000 but i thought it was to small when i went to see it.

Then he almost begged me to take it from him for 1000 only.

Still working and couldn't be more happy with it.

We have 2 big fridges also , but all  freeze compartments are full now.

They do have chest freezers at both Makro and Siam TV in Lamphun. At Siam TV the freezers are not inside the shop but on the outside (at the left side of the building when you enter the parking lot), so I'm not sure if they are actually sold by Siam TV or not. I just came back from shopping at Makro, and they have five different models ranging from very small to quite big.

Not sure about pricing or quality, you may be able to find a better deal online on sites such as Lazada.

Look at Lazada.  Everything is in RM, whatever RM is.  Can't figure a way to see the prices in Thai Baht or any other currency.  Anyway, the problem with buying appliance online is that they are sight-unseen.  Anyway, I'll check back at Siam TV the next time I leave the rices fields out here by Doi Khun Tan.  Don't know why I didn't see any at Makro.  Major appliance to the left as you enter the door.  I must be blind.  Hummm.

You are using the Thailand web site?  Lazada has sites in other countries.

Sounds like you have the Malaysia site.

I recommend against buying Sanden Intercool brand.

The motor & compressor are good, but the build quality of the box sucks.

Nowhere near enough insulation.

I also bought a Panasonic from the homestore behind central airport plaza, very good.

You were on the Malaysian Lazada site.  RM is their currency and they have different models of appliances because their electrical outlets are different.

Siam TV in Chiang Mai has some appliances on the main floor and some upstairs.  Don't forget to go upstairs.

It looks like you need a trained guide to help you shop for a freezer.  :sorry:

At Makro the chest freezers are the first thing on the left after you enter the door lined up against the outside wall (where the televisions used to be before the re-arranged the store). The largest size they have is a Panasonic, and is the same model we bought there in August of 2014. We have had no problems with it at all.

Lamphun Makro always had chest freezers when I lived there.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but....make sure they run on a thermostat...the real cheap ones do not! The compressor just continually runs to keep it at freezing (at least some do this, as I've friends that went that route and made up for the cost with paying for electricity). Something to consider. You'd never go wrong with Panasonic, but get ready to sink some bucks into one of those. pg
