Prebiotics

Featured Replies

Having watched a program on BBC iPlayer  this morning about sleep ... for which I will try anything to get more/better off ... the doctor doing the investigation improved his sleep the most by improving his guy bacteria. He did this by dissolving  a Prebotic powder in water and drinking before bedtime.

Having done a bit of reading on the internet it seems to suggest that a prebotic is considerably more effective at improving gut bacteria than a probotic. Taking both could be better still.

So I am up for trying this .........

Anyone any actual experience with prebiotics AND does anyone know of any source.  I don't mean veg's etc as you would have to consume quite a quantity to get enough prebiotic .... thanks

Prebiotics and probiotics are not the same thing.

You'll want both.

Gut bacteria is proving the key to many health issues.

We all have gut bacteria but the trick is having the "right" kind in the mix, and then when you do, you want to feed the good bacteria.

It's a growing area of scientific research.

Many commercial products with big bacteria claims are a waste of money.

Yes Jing you are correct ... as I said ... Taking both could be better still.

But where to get a prebiotic powder is my problem

"Prebiotic" is simply marketing speak for "fibre" touted by the unscrupulous to make money.  Just eat plenty of (preferably raw) vegetables and you'll be fine.

Interesting opinion ... thanks ... yep, certain veg do a similar job except you might need to eat a field full to get the same benefit as one sachet of what I want. I have found what I want in the UK, just need it posting over.

If it doesn't improve my sleep then I haven't really lost much ....

Any update on this? I just picked up the same 'Truth about Sleep' BBC documentary and I'm really keen to try some Prebiotics.

Asking at a few places here (local, Watsons and Boots Chemist) I'm met with Probiotics - and they're crazy expensive (like 10 capsule prices for the price I'd expect to pay for 30)...

Any headway with this?

What?

Bimuno.com  I think, is what the guy used.  Someone in the UK is posting some sachets over for me ... at present they are out of stock.

If you can get it posted to a UK address they will give you some free samples. Free samples are not available for international orders

Do you have a bathtub?  A HOT BATH with lots of Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) will give you a great nights sleep.  Your body absorbs the magnesium through your skin.

I GUARANTEE this will work ...

finding a bath tub in Thailand is hard though :-(

Some times I rent a hotel room .. just to take a bath like this ..

A sachet of Bimuno is cheaper than a hotel room and it will improve your gut bacteria ...more than likely a hotel room will be the reverse...
