PATTAYA: -- Pattaya police chief Apichai Krobpetch lavished praise on his force for their up to date sense of duty, faithfulness to the public and all round excellence yesterday.

Apichai was speaking as the National Police Bureau presented his men with 37 brand new Yamaha bikes for traffic duty. He said it was just reward for his men in running an up to date station in line with HQ policy.

The new bikes - nmax155 cc and retailing at about 78,000 baht apiece - were handed over in a ceremony yesterday giving the chief the opportunity to praise his underlings.

He said that his men set the standard in safety and security of the public, tourists and their property. He called Pattaya a world famous resort town.

He even said that the Pattaya force were showing that they were value for money for public taxes as well as being upstanding both in and out of uniform.

He said they inspired faith from the public,

He waved his men off on their new vehicles telling them to ride carefully and continue to uphold the good name of the Pattaya force, reported Sophon Cable.

HQ doesn't go out of the blue to buy bikes for just one police satiation,

Somebody is going to get a lucrative concessions of some sort for

'donating ' or facilitating the buy of those bikes....

I remember when I got my first brand new company CAR in UK. It was just another day at the office. Nothing to make a fuss about.

Because he didn't know what words to use first .Words like,Prostitution, police bribery, young motor cycle gangs running amuck, filthy beaches, seasonal flooding, robbery, foreign bums on over stay, non traffic control, and just too many others to mention. So you can see his confusement on this. come on give the guy a chance.

Have no doubts. Agents from the Economic Crimes Division of the DSI: TVF, all graduates of the famed TVF Poster Colorectal Academy, are on the case, clearly.

The best way to think of it is as a small town newspaper in a small town. Every event trivial to the outside world and sophsticates (like all TVF members) is of interest to the local population. Gossip, a catch of a big fish, a large turtle sighting, a traffic accident--it all gets printed in the local rag. Yes, you'd see a pic of the local cop w/ his new cruiser in there.

I wonder how many Lt Gens, Lt Cols, and Maj Gens are among that lot. Oh wait, they will probably get BMWs. :shock1:

What about all the "Effeminate" brigade and their gold necklaces, the police are never there to protect them when all the snatches are in progress.

how does he know anything about them out of uniform ?

If they were out of uniform and on duty after dark, and actually working, they would be too busy to bother about showing off their new motorbikes.

With all the money they are making from DUI lately they can afford Harleys!

Probably but why would they want a clunker like a Harley?

These are not new. Introduced quite a while ago.

To me an amateurish solution.

They should get informed about body-cams fixed at the uniform/shoulder.

Generally I like the idea of uniform vehicles for the police, especially in a tourist town with many foreigners.

It always puzzled me to see cops riding on girlie scooters (Fino or the like).

But where are baton holder, siren and red flash light

Is that a baton holder or are you just pleased to see me?

Okay, I am confused again!

"Pattaya police chief says new bikes from HQ are a just reward for his upstanding "value for money" men."

Did HQ give these bikes to Pattaya Police because their ticketing practices (graft) generates more money than for HQ coffers?

I thought the were rotating flashing lights but what use would they be?

Well, considering the money being creamed off daily at the Khao Noi and Khao Talo crossing of the railway by-pass I would have expected a fleet of 37 Honda Goldwings or some real boys stuff like Harley-Davidsons, while the boss should get a new Mercedes 600

Great Photo Now good officers get on your bikes and go enforce the traffic rules Ha ha Bikes will be ridden back to the police stations so they can continue there card games. All for show no substance Just another kickback for the boss

A nice 'Police Special' perhaps......

If they would do this everywhere cops on bikes and enforce the traffic law thailand would be changed forever and no longer the worlds most dangerouse place to drive a bike.

So maybe this is a good thing reguardless if all cops inn thailand are as deserving as these high value for money boys.

So TVF is a local rag.....interesting POV.

And my car NEVER got into the local rag of my small town.

Note I didn't say "is." I said best way to think about it. TVF often merely reports what's in the local rag.

Works.

Too modest. Often the "newsworthy" must take responsibility for alerting the rag.
