I have trialed the HD Subs tv app.

I don't know if you guys have been frustrated trying to find an alternative tv app since iLikeHD, and ExpatPremium have stopped.

I know HD Prime is back running again, but you should try HD Subs, you can have a free trial for a week, and it has a quality picture, and a great selection of channels. If you have a 3D telly, you can watch 3D movies on demand as well.

I don't get anything from this, only trying to help anyone hunting 'paid for' tv, it's not free, but not expensive either.

I have tried the free ones, and basically they are pretty crap to be honest, with their poor picture quality, and buffering just when you don't want it buffering. 7 days catch-up on most channels, not all, but most of them.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I have been trying to find a decent app for tv, and i think this one is good.

I expect some of you will say, "I wouldn't pay for tv, free is ok for me",  that's fine if that is your bag, but most things i want to watch happens in the middle of the night here, so a catch up feature, and perfect HD picture is what i am after...now found it.

I looked at their main page and it is not clear as to what channels one gets it just says all the prem soccer and heaps of sports channels but doesn't give a list. Too me it seems a bit hit and miss but it is happy to take your money

HDsubs has a lot of channels but if you have a Minix U9-H their service does not work on their box.  I have an open ticket with them and they claim to have asked Minix for help but after a couple of weeks I am now asking for a refund. Lets see how that goes.

There is a service called Vaders I am trying as a replacement, it's better and cheaper (about $30 per year cheaper)  than HDsubs, you can also integrate it into Kodi. A lot of the streams are 1080p and 720p + a few SD channels.  Has all the usual stuff and more than HDsubs and Prime, also has a great live TV guide and match center that shows all the live sport thats on and what time.  Well worth a look.

If you sign up for the free trial they send you a channel list 80 odd channels in English plus many in other languages.

That is not correct, I've been running HDSUBS + for the last 2 months on a Minix NEO U9-H with absolutely no issues whatsoever, and I fully endorse the first comment it's really good, absolutely top class HD streaming for all the UK sports channels.

Only issue is the catch up is sometimes 15 mins behind, wanna see if we can get the live 3pm Saturday EPL games next month when it starts..

And another thing with this application is no VPN I've just come back today from new Zealand watching the lions and I took the Minix NEO U9-H with me to try it out, no problems at all.

I'm going back to the UK next month I'll test it out over there as well.

I have been using HDSubs+ with Minix box since the end of February-you need the + for cach-up. It has been excellent-far better than all the other options I have tried. The only buffering seems to be on BBC1 -this problem I get on most apps.

I pay by the year as it is very much cheaper that way.

Are they using the same massive buffer technology that Expat TV were using for totally flawless viewing (I rarely watch live)?

With Expat you could unplug the network and the playback didn't even stutter until the buffer was exhausted.

I'm very happy with www.teatimetv.to at this moment.

Finally a service with a sensible interface that actually works and which does not involve clicking through a dozen windows to get anywhere!

That looks awfully like the UKTV "Black" player, an excellent player and interface.

EDIT It's actually an on-line player works very well from my quick test. Don't try it from a UK IP it won't work (had to turn off my UK VPN).

Have a look at TVMucho, based in Spain which is a definite advantage to being locally based. Can be installed easily on any Android box.

Crashes constantly, regardless of which browser you use.

The Android version isnt an app at all: it just opens a browser window with a redirect.

Impossible to get a day's listings visible on-screen. Far too much detailed and unwanted programme information loads with each screen.

Impossible to step back to the previous window.

If you are viewing a programme the only way to exit is to reload the homepage.

This is surely one of the world's most badly designed players.

tvmucho only has a small sample of uk freeview channels.

in this day and age we really should expect full uk freeview and uk sky.

this is 2017 , we want movies, live sport, documentaries and premium entertainment.

who the hell wants to watch Jeremy Kyle.

After some testing this seems to work fairly well, though the buffer is very small and several programmes either fail to stream at all or die during the course of the programme never to recover. The small buffer makes skipping forward by one or five minutes very tedious as each time one has to wait for the stream to restart.

When in full-screen mode it is impossible to bring up the navigation buttons without going to windowed mode. So that's a pain.

For me the technique of a dedicated player programme with a 10-20 minute buffer (like ExpatTV or UKTV) is vastly superior to these browser based solutions.

Picture quality, when it works, is very high.

A strange service that appears to give no indication at all of how to subscribe or for how long the free service is expected to continue.

+1 KK. My testing last night echoes your experience, when working it works well.

I wonder if they're using the Expat/UKTV streams, the channel choice is familiar and player looks very like the old "Black" player.

The website is hosted in the US (or traceroutes there, could be a proxy).

Yes, I suspect that too. If they introduced a version of the Expat/UK stand-alone player they could be on a real winner.

Unlikely they used a 20 minute buffer unless they had a time machine. The live feed was only 5 minutes behind 'reality'.

It was 5 minutes on live, 15 on catch up.

So I'm going to hand over 999B/month to a new start-up that cant even configure it's free Woocommerce/Wordpress site properly?

Right.

Only just got back to answer your slightly sarcastic reply,

I was only giving my opinion on a good tv app, i have had it now for a while, and it's brilliant, perfect picture all the time, and at a good price.

Dunno where you got 999baht/month from,  i have the 'pink, on demand' top 12 month package, and it works out at 683 baht a month. To me, that is a bargain for what i am getting, ie, everything i need in a tv package,  better than iLike HD ever was, and much better than HDprime as its not even HD if you drop down to 720 to stop the picture freezing. Tried many others, and this for me is good.

I was only giving my view on it,  agree with it or not, up to you mate.

Absolutely, and I was just giving mine. I certainly wasnt suggesting that you were in any way responsible for, or connected to, the service.

Teatimetv.to looks just like the defunct expat TV
Another scam?

People (including me) lost money on ThaiExpat TV because the Thai authorities arrested the owners for providing unauthorised sports programming that Thai broadcasters owned the rights to. The basic non-sports package using the same servers was also suspended even though it wasnt actually part of the Thai broadcasters' complaint.

Whilst it was particularly daft of the people behind Expat TV to broadcast such material, they didnt actually scam any viewers out of their money. But they didnt refund any of it when the service collapsed either, and presumably they could have done so if they had a conscience (never thought I would use that word in a Thai forum).

I had a 3 day free trial recently with HDsubs that was quite good . I tried to go for the 1 month contract to test its reliability but  was unable to pay them with debit cards or credit cards , each time " failure etc" appeared on the screen . Emailed them and they said use Western Union .   Is this the norm , how did you pay ?
