PATTAYA: -- A Dutch man and his Thai wife have been found dead in Amsterdam.

The bodies of Pattaya expat Pieter Hoovers, 54, and his Thai wife were found in an apartment in Amsterdam’s Ceintuurbaan on Monday.

Dutch police said the couple met a violent death and died in suspicious circumstances.

Police were called by Hoovers' relatives after the couple had not been seen for a couple of days.

Hoovers had owned the Hoek van Holland restaurant in Jomtien from 2002 and had lived in Pattaya since the late 1990’s. More recently had been dividing his time between Thailand and Holland.

Dutch media reports that Hoovers was a well known figure in the Amsterdam music scene and had also competed to a high standard in martial arts.

A report in Het Parool claims that Hoovers had links to the criminal world in both Holland and Thailand.

If Google translation didn't fool me:

He left Thailand a couple of months ago and left behind creditors.

That is consistent with posts in another thread that his restaurant in Jomtien is closed.

What you are saying could be right but I did not read it in the article of the parool that was in the OP there it did not mention creditors.

Generally, Thai Mafia types would have access to immigration databases, including hotels etc visited in Thailand and home address in farangland  and they would  probably get the hitman to do a drug run as well as shoot the victim (to justify the cost)... the impetus would be how much face they have lost in Thailand. With smart mobile phones it is also easy to distribute photos of the victims to overseas Thais if they are not able to immediately track him down. No idea about this case but generally anything is possible.

Maybe not!

Might have pissed off the wrong guys. Kind a Krabi story in Amsterdam, probably.

I love the crack investigators on thaivisa.com, solving every case without the burden of too much evidence!

Hoovers, according to newspapers, allegedly tipped the hit-man/murderer the whereabouts of another Dutchman (Mieremet) who got killed in Pattaya in 2005.

I'm sure the RTP must come on here, read what the TV sleuths say, then go off and crack the case.

This technique seems standard practice also with the regular local boys in brown, don't you think?

After your very constructive criticism on TV posters, what would be your comment/opinion on the issue????

As mr. Pieter Hoovers was a Dutchman you could expect him to speak Dutch, be it that it would most probably be with an Amsterdam accent.

It's worse than that, he was involved with another murder 10 years ago.
