Featured Replies

Hello, I ve heard that the 'beer garden' on Soi 7 has had a run in with the bulldozer & came of second best. If anybody is nearby that could take a picture, would be appreciated.

For real?  Been rumours about this place closing for years but if it turns out that this really is the end, it's the end of an era.  I quite liked the ambience there.  OK, it was downmarket and full of working girls who may have been beyond the peak of their powers but there was a very welcoming vibe where everyone was welcome and no one was hassled.  Be a real shame if this really is the end.

i think everyone that went there 'fitted in'in their own way, is always entertaining to say the least,

That whole soi up to the beer garden on both sides is demolished, only makes sense to knock down the beer garden to make way for what i heard is a Mall and condo

really !!! that' s great news. I saw all the shops next to it were gone in April this year, but i heard it was knocked down last week...obviously wrong information....how unusual for Thailand :)

All was good Friday but the rumours have been going around for a while.
If it makes way for a <deleted> mall then BKK loses a little of her soul.

What happen to the ThaiVisa bar, also in soi 7?

That had been closed for a long time. Haven't noticed the status of the actual building lately.

It's that old "soul vs free air conditioning " conundrum.  I'm not their target demographic, but if another mall relieves some of the congestion of window shoppers and diners at the malls one short BTS stop in each direction...

Realistically when it comes to the Biergarden it's not a matter of it but when. It is ancient relic of the better days in that area of Bangkok, a place you go to from mid morning to very late at night. Decent prices for the drinks and food, a great variety of ExPats who were low key and of course the girls. Yes some were beyond their best use by date, some were stunners but all in all a guy could easily find someone to fill his needs. I myself over the past twenty years never had a bad experience there and will regret its eventual demise. Along with Thermae, The Eden Club, the Biergarden was one of those must visit places in lower Sukhumvit.

Anyone in the area?  Would be nice to know one way or the other if it has been leveled or if it's business as usual.

It was alive and (sort of) well as of yesterday (Monday, Sep 4). I mentioned it's inevitable bulldozing to one of the gals and she went into denial mode. As I said, it's inevitable that will go the way of the rest of Soi 7. I see a Thermae in my future, but don't have the correct ethnicity.

Ok, a young lady I know has messaged me that it is definitely still open, but who knows for how long...

As of last night the Beer Garden is still there and open.

Luckily that midget drunk lady still hanging at the bars around there somethings never change.

The whole block where Cheap Charlie's on Soi 11 was scheduled to be demolished to make way for mall & condo very soon as all property leases were due to expire around this time.

Could someone have misheard the Soi number wrong ? (7 & 11)

Rumours about Beergarden knockdown have been around for at least seven to ten years

Hope it is not true this time

The operator will find somewhere else, don't worry.

Cheap Charlie's gone.  Jools gone.  Car Park Soi 23 gone.  Clinton Plaza gone.  Soi 10 illegal but fun gone.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Not to forget another icon that was Washington Square :(

The next ones on the list will be Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy- I give them no more than a few years.  There is  already a shift in the 'entertainment' away from lower Sukhumvit. Property too valuable for the current occupations. Money talks.....as always

Not correct. Only eastern side down.
