Former marine takes his son to the police claiming training abuses

A former marine has gone with his son to the Sattahip police to complain about abusive and unwarranted training methods in the Thai armed forces.

It is the latest such case following the death of a cadet.

And now the father has denied that he got a gun from the base's armory and fired at a hospital trying to take someone hostage.

Benjaporn Bowonsuwan went with his son Taphaporn to see senior police officers at the Sattahip station armed with pictures of his son's injuries sustained during "Recon" or reconnaissance training.

Tanaphorn said that he suffered two broken ribs, was whipped and assaulted repeatedly with an M16. He developed septicemia and had to be hospitalized.

The navy told the father he fell down the stairs.

Benjaporn said that the training was all wrong and not what he had in his day and he wants it stopped.

And he was furious that the base had not owned up like men to what happened earlier in the month. All he got was hollow apologies, he said.

He denied earlier reports that he had taken the matter into his own hands by getting a gun from the base and trying to take a person hostage after discharging the weapon in a hospital.

Police are investigating.

The case comes hot on the heels of the death of a cadet at a training establishment in which the youth's organs were removed before the body was handed back to parents.

The parents claim abuse at the hands of trainers in that case too.

If the parents keep saying it is not okay to beat and kill our children, things will change.  The international media will pick it up eventually.   The elites are only really afraid of what foreigners may think.

I have just watched a video of three year old children being ill treated in a kindergarten. If they are subjected to cruelty at that age, it's quite understandable that they grow up thinking this is the way to get discipline. They become army trainers. The military had better get a grip of this situation before the public turn ugly. And who can blame them.:post-4641-1156693976:

Go Dad!!

This is how it will go  Dad has no chance in this  The police will act sincere to the father then as soon he leaves the room the police will ring the chief of armed forces.  They will make up some bullshit and spread rumors about the family and sweep it under the carpet If that kid has any idea what danger he is in now i would refuse to go back If he does  he will end up in the gulf of Thailand Swimming exercise gone wrong official statement.  The investigation the police will do will be very  quick  Ask yourself?  Who has the most power in Thailand ? The Armed Forces or the keystone cops?:WPFflags:

Which will make absolutely no difference.

Dad is an ex-marine? Then he should go to the base and talk to the officer in charge of training. Sadly the whistle blowers son's military career is tainted?

There are 2 choices, be the beater or be the beaten.

I imagine this is sorted out in the first week.

I have an 11 year old son that might end up in the army by no choice of his own. I'm grateful to the bravery of this father that will not stand by and wait until his son is dead. There have been too many deaths due to the code of silence. I wish all the fathers of cadets that "fell down stairs" would have the courage to stand up for their sons.

Well done dad.

How many teenage boys have died whilst undergoing military training in the us or Australia have you heard of lately? ?

In Thailand it's almost 1 a year of the last few years .

Could you point out the similarities perhaps? ?

Do you even have any idea what it takes to raise a child to 18 years old and get him into that school?

Only to have him come home in pieces in a polystyrene box with his name on it.

No, it is not similar to US and Australia in any way shape or form.

That is the problem.  Deflecting criticism as apposed to owning up.  If the military cannot do the manly thing, who will ?  The US and other western military bodies do not have conscripts and must rely on volunteers.  If they act without regard to human life, they will get no volunteers.   That and life saving is a badge of heroism and considered as prerequisites for elite soldiers.
