"...she was, for want of a better word, mishandled; eventually to the extent that she had to flee for her life, almost. She'd have got asylum anywhere."

To some extent I don't disagree.

Put it another way her scaly brother and his immoral cronies hoodwinked her and took advantage of her.  Given their track record, are you surprised?

On the other hand she knew the track record of her scaly brother and his crones quite well. In fact I can't believe that she didn't have first hand information about all of their past activities, disgusting GT bank case just one example.

But she went right ahead and sat in the big chair. She had a choice, she chose to be part of an immoral scaly mob and do their bidding.

She made her own nest and is now suffering for it. Som num nar.

Yea.......living in a luxurious Mayfair home and shopping in Harrods. Really suffering.

Som nam nah indeed.

Wouldn't mind a bit of suffering like that myself on my next UK visit with the wife.

No she didn't.  Check it.

Well she be the first Pm who has not So if she is innocent why not come back? I always believe if you are innocent truth will prevail When you run gives a message that you have something to hide  You really think the junta would put her in jail? That would make a martyr and cause lots of trouble in Thailand I would of stayed and called there bluff if she was innocent?

I know what gov is in power  But think about it Do you really think they want her back? Sometimes you have to play the game there way to win the game  I honestly believe they were the ones who helped her escape The escape goats were a couple of cops of no importance to take the blame so nobody would start asking questions about her escape Those guys were only following orders which came from the top

Oh 100% agree I am sure they knew full well same as when they sent her brother on vacation

They could never hold power otherwise

They cannot jail a popular elected PM

She was charged with negligence and it was accepted by the prosecuting authorities that she never made a baht from the scheme.

Negligence is not a crime in most countries unless it causes physical harm to another.

I find it funny that some as asking her to be returned to Thailand by the British Government  so she can be put on trial for corruption, by a corrupt and illegal Government who get paid pittance but have more Rolex's than Roger Federer,  and he's sponsored by Rolex.

Of all the countries in the world she could have gone to, I wonder why she picked the little old UK.

Surely the US would have been a better bet.

Maybe because of the THB/GBP exchange rate.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact her brother has property and businesses in the UK!!

Oxford dictionary:

1Failure to take proper care over something.

‘his injury was due to the negligence of his employers’

Synonyms
  1. 1.1Law Breach of a duty of care which results in damage.

    Example sentences

Was it negligence or was it dereliction of duty?

We're not discussing various dictionary definitions here, we're discussing the law.  A little different!

Being convicted on politically motivated charges would get her asylum.

politically motivated is the term used by politicians when they are convicted. Fake rice deals and massive corruption enriching her cabinet ministers can not be called politically motivated charges So she wont get aslyum in the UK

I sometimes wonder about some on here and fear for their wellbeing

So the rice pledge was in the election manifesto and Yinkluck delegated (if you do not know the word look it up and study it) someone to overlook it. If and I say If that person was shady then its that person who takes the fall as Yingluck put her faith in that person to do a good job. Now CEO's all over the world do the delegation bit every day. I delegated a young intern to make a cup of coffee for two customers and myself about two hours ago. It was bad, cold, strong and I suspect the customers cups had not been washed. He will not be seeking asylum or a new job just because of his actions. Time to move on and Little p and his corrupt cronies should do so today.

Whether the charges were politically motivated will not be determined by second rate foreign sympathizers of military repression but by highly qualified British officials and lawyers following long established procedures.

No. She might accidentally have said ' have a nice day ' to an immigration official and been sued for 20 million dollars for sexual harassment or some other equally ridiculous charge.

Politically motivated is the term that Interpol use when they refuse to issue notices in cases such as this.

Charging her for what someone else did would be politically motivated, so she will get asylum

I must confess to being a little bit confused. A couple of days ago you were confidently predicting that Yingluck would be granted asylum due to massive corruption on the part of the UK government - large brown envelopes being handed over, remember?
Now you are confidently predicting she will be refused asylum due to massive corruption in her own government.

Fell off your horse en route to Damascus did you?

What has "second-rate foreign sympathizers of military repression" got to do with my post.  It is a court case started long before this government came into power. I have no love for this government. Are you referring to me? If so do you get pleasure from making insulting childish remarks against tv posters?  Moderators, please note.

Of course, there were no big brown envelopes in the Roll Royce case. The British are incorruptible!!!

You seem to be very naive in assuming the Junta and its allies had nothing to do with the court case. The National Anti Corruption Commission passed the case to the Office of the Attorney General in August 2014 by which time the coup had already taken place.Actually even though the Junta was in power at the time (contrary to what you stated), the sequence is not that important.I'm not going to give you a seminar now but perhaps you might consider the possibility that the NACC might not have been entirely independent and free of political bias.

Returning to the thread subject matter I made the point that views of foreign residents in the matter of extradition were not in the first order of importance. The matter will be decided by professionals in the UK and they will adhere to established procedures especially given the evidence of a political vendetta.Whether you are a lover of this government or a Shinophobe or a democracy hater is not a matter in which I take any interest, and I am unclear why you have personalised this. For those that are I suppose your posting record will provide some clues.
