Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) commissioner vowed to remove five senior policemen at Bang Mod police station after the Infinity Indy pub raid  where over a hundred visitors were tested positive for drugs.

The MPB commissioner Pol Lt Gen Charnthep Sesavej said Saturday that the removal process was underway and expected it could be issued late this afternoon.

Describing these police officers of negligence of duties, the commissioner said he has always instructed metropolitan police to tighten constant checks on entertainment venues and make sure of no violation of the laws, but it still repeated.

If you don’t pay police officers sufficient to stop them being tempted by bribes, don’t be surprised if they seek alternative income sources, legal and illegal.

Also little incentive to shut down businesses providing those income sources.

What a pathetic joke!!!

So these five officers are going to be "removed" from that police station. It's does NOT say they're going to be disciplined or demoted or even fired.

Now, the only question is, to what other police station are they going to eventually be transferred to where they can continue their "negligent" work behavior.

Because as goes the musical chairs routine of Thai policing, these guys no matter how bad always resurface somewhere else to continue doing what they've been doing all along.

???

Who needs to ever go to a circus again? The Thai police provide enough entertainment. In active posts must be bursting at the seams by now . If these officers have broken the law they are supposed to up hold stripped of their duties and dismissed from police force .

It's got something to do with "having ones hand in the till" !!

It's hard to tell an owner to ban customers one day then pop-in to take your bribe the next!!

And how much would that be?

I just feel the bribes would go up a little higher and temptation and greed would win.

Do you believe people join the police in Thailand to serve the people, or line their pockets?

Ok i have answer for that. They join the police and in the beginning they actually want   to serve the People Noble cause? But the Thai police Structure problem means  that the people in higher places in the force are so corrupt they  start to think "OK My boss is doing it and he is doing great I might as well join them" The other problem is Thai police are paid badly. They become this way because they have the authority to extort money using the law and it beats being on struggle street when there are easy pickings out there.

You really think that increasing their pay will stop them being corrupt.  All the time they know they can get rich on graft with zero prospects of anything more than being moved to an inactive post for a while they would be fools not to take all they can. An increase in pay would just mean they are better off in the inactive post so even that disincentive would reduce.
