In a first of its kind the Thai cops have initiated a drive thru fine system.

The Thai public like the time saving idea - though it seemed so much like KFC or McDonald's that drivers were wondering if they could perhaps order lunch to go as well.

The "Drive Thru Police Ticket  (also known by its cunning acronym DPTP) has been set up at Bang Plee police station south east of Bangkok.

Described as a one stop service the cops hope the easy service will encourage people to pay more fines.

It got the thumbs up from its first customers on Wednesday especially as you don't need to waste time parking or queuing - it's all done in three minutes.

Then you can get somewhere else where they DO serve lunch.

Just about about sums up the attitude of drivers here, why waste time when you could be tail-gating and trying to under-pass in a honda jazz/ chevy pick-up/fortruner/11 yr old Izuzu/ vios on drugs..etc most with an exhaust big enough to easily fit a Mcd triple burger into.

(swear word with an F) ridiculous.

Sorry, failed to add the chevy pick-up with Che Guava and bullet hole stickers

If it proves lucrative enough the food and beverages will be there fast enough, on worries.

Cool your jets. Che Guava is a revolutionary fruit! :sorry:

...and why not also offer a good happy soapy with some of those hotties in uniform well hidden behind the office desks ?!!:goof:

Those who won't pay still won't pay, no matter how 'easy' they make it !

The "Drive Thru Police Ticket  (also known by its cunning acronym DPTP) ."

Um, shouldn't that be DTPT? Reminds me of the old saying, "The P in Thailand stands for Planning." Though, to be fair, maybe it's the reporter who was careless about the acronym.

Exactly.

That was one of the first 2 things that sprang to mind immediately.

The 2nd was, where in Thailand is anything (involving paperwork) ever done in 3-minutes. Hand over your ticket and be handed back 16 other forms; "Need photocopy Mister"; computer down; not open Buddha Day... The list goes on :coffee1:

Drive thru fine payments......I thought they have always had them??...I think they call them "checkpoints".

Why is fine payment so low?  If it had penalties or loss of driving privileges? What happens in Thailand if you don't pay your other bills?

At high speed, of course.
