Tadpoles Reaching 400 baht a Kilo at Markets

CityNews – Villagers in Doi Saket are earning an extra cash from selling tadpoles, a delicacy that appears in periods of heavy rain.

 

Doi Saket, along with most of Chiang Mai, has been facing a continue rainfall for the past few weeks.

Delicacy tadpoles?  Ahhh ok, like smoked salmon, Alaskan king crab, bbq brisket, Kumamoto oysters, pecan pie or wild blueberry cheesecake?

Toad Boy was once a cane toad tadpole. His parents have a lot to answer for.

A friend used to say: "with a tad of mustard, even your old grandpa taste good."

Except their own excrement, is there anything in the swamps or behind tree skins they refuse to eat in the hub of food hygiene and kitchen of the world?

No, I would say more like escargot, Russian caviar, casu marzu or century eggs.

The other day a Thai woman asked me 'you eat salmon'? Bet, she'd like tadpoles better. ?
