I've just had a butchers and I am shocked. A 64gb UBS flash drive for under 100baht.

Can't believe they are stable at that price.

Kingston is a decent brand, which is why I wonder if they are fakes, even though Lazada isn't supposed to sell fakes.

I needed a couple of thumbs last week and saw the prices for these Kingston ones. Must admit, I was tempted but chose to pay a bit more (SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 32GB USB 3.0 @ 300 baht & SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive m3.0 64GB USB 3.0 speed up to 150MB/s) @ 630 baht). These were bought from Lazada and are confirmed as what it says on the box. Note that these are duel input drives.

Personally, I would be very cautious with drives at this price. If you look at the seller's, (I now always check this when making purchases from Lazada) they are the same for almost all of these low cost drives.

If you do get one, please let us know how you get on; I've seen 128GB & 256GB drives shown for less than 200 baht................

Yes I have, and yes they are as fake as Katie Price.

Don't trust them, liable to corrupt within a matter of days taking everything on them.

Likewise with the low priced external drives on there.. got scammed on 3 "Seagate" external drives that weren't even *that* cheap. China based seller disappeared. Drives don't work with OSX or Linux and cannot even be formatted to do so.

Thanks, won't take a chance.

Bought a couple of fake SanDisk SD cards from Lazada. They were complete crap, almost unusable. Returned them for a full refund and bought the real thing (it was easy to spot since it's provided by Lazada themselves, not by a 3rd party).

Bought a couple they were 128 mb, Lazada did not want them returned but I got full refund.

Provided them with report from FAKEFLASHTEST.exe

Bought from Kingston official store on Lazada, they were OK.

Lazada sell fakes I bought a Samsung wireless charger, out right fake when it arrived and no one there would take responsability for it got my money back after a while though and they still sell the fakes online.

There are thousands of warnings all over the interweb regarding fake SD and USB chips that are being sold online and in street markets.  YouTube has hundreds of videos about them, and how to test for them.  I bought one (128Gb) in Chinatown a couple of years back.  It crashed when I tried to put over 8Gb on it.  Fortunately, I could spare the $5 it cost me when I binned it.

Most are not factory seconds, off brands, etc.  They're low capacity chips that are nefariously set up to report the advertised capacity when you plug them in, but go belly up when you try to put more data on them than they will hold.

I've been on an action/IP/dash camera kick lately and have bought a bunch of 64Gb and 128Gb SD Class 10 Micro cards from Lazada, and they've all been legit (I tested them).  But I've been paying full price, and ordering them from Lazada vendors I recognize, like Banana IT, etc.   Not all Lazada vendors are equal...

I only buy memory 'Fulfilled by Lazada', that way you won't be cheated.

Just bought a Sandisk 32gb MicroSD @220bht for my phone, not expensive.

Bought the kid a windows notebook the other day, and decided to give my remaining unbricked "2TB Seagate" another try, seemed to work fine at first but issues with permissions. Tried to format again, failed.

Took a really, really close look at the label...

^ Very zoomed in with a wide angle camera - "Manuactured", "safery" and  "Ssagate" -The biggest of those letters is less than 1.5mm in height. Those dusty rubber feet are about 4mm in diameter.

Ripped it open, found this:

Ancient Hitachi Travelstar 160GB.. turns out there's a way of editing the HD firmware to make it appear to the host to be way bigger than it really is (which is probably why formatting fails).

Aside from those barely visible to the eye spelling mistakes, the packaging and casing was perfect. Exact packaging, USB3 cable very neatly included, perfectly formatted and spelt user guide in a little black box. Exactly like the packaging and casing in the genuine unboxing shown here (except the mistakes in the minuscule label copy.

Very convincing copies unless you have superman eyes - I suspect whoever made them has access to the factory that makes the real ones (except the label department). Nice little earner given the real ones go for a hundred dollars or so.

Buyer beware!!!

Just go to a reputable brick and mortar already.

Keep the packaging and receipt, the warranty is good for TEN years.

And you won't have to ship it back (dodgy).

Talk about being penny wise but pound foolish.
