Twenty-five French tourists and one Thai guide were injured with 4-5 of them in serious condition after a tour bus in which they were travelling overturned on a secondary road in Mae Lao district of Chiang Rai province on Tuesday.

Rescue workers said that most of the tourists sustained bruises and were discharged after given first-aid treatment at Mae Lao district hospital.

The accident took place in Ban Huey Sarn Yao in Tambon Dong Mada, Mae Lao district as the tour bus was travelling from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai.

He stated that there would be  "crackdown" , which there has been .

He didnt suggest that he would stop buses from crashing .

Seatbelts MUST be worn now , could be that the tourists wearing seat belts under the crackdown saved them from serious injury

Don't know that it's worth overthinking this story.

The driver has admitted he lost control on a slippery corner, which meant he was travelling too quick for the conditions. So, driver error.

He may have only been doing 50 kmph, but it only takes that extra 1 kmph.  Anyway .... upside down in a ditch.

Thought it was amusing that the PBS story highlighted the fact that the driver waited at the crash site for police to arrive.

Unfortunately the pics are not clear enough to judge on the state of the tires.

The tyres are pixelated. This is clearly the cause of the accident.

The stewardesses/attendants / water givers

Not far from my house , there are some tricky curves there , and if he has gone down this road before he would have known. When they get down the road another 4 klm the road straightens out , and they go like a bat out of hell, see it all the time ,as we live on the main road.
