  • Hi Possum. You will never get a 'very good sound' out of a laptop, depending on your definition of very good. Try a USB or Soundbar speaker. Or a couple of M-Audio self powered studio monitors......no

  • a 17 inch screen with a whopping 720 resolution im guessing.

  • Just hook up the laptop to your big screen TV via HDMI,  that's what I do. I'm on a smart TV 55" right now .

What is your budget ? Is it for video editing ? Mac is big on that - if no fan of Mac I would go mobile work station spec from Lenovo or Dell

PM sent to you.

Hi Possum. You will never get a 'very good sound' out of a laptop, depending on your definition of very good. Try a USB or Soundbar speaker. Or a couple of M-Audio self powered studio monitors......now yer talking'.

Go on Ken Bruce's Popmaster at 17.30 and get Three-in-Ten right and you could win a USB speaker.   lol

As Charlie says, you can get a 17 inch jobbie, but then it depends how much you carry it around. Why not a 14 inch, HDMI into your big telly.

Nah, you get the Bluetooth speaker if you fail the Three-in-Ten. Digital radio for the bright ones who get it.

I got the T-shirt.!!!!!  Sorry, yes it is Bluetooth speaker. Mr Az setting in!

I picked up a 17.1" screen Toshiba for the equivalent of 1600 baht. Planted an SSD within and maxxed out the RAM. All for a total cost of 2650 baht. A present for a friend.

38k for a laptop with Windows 10 Home? ????

1440p x 900p stupid. I've never seen a 17+" screen with 720p resolution. Have you?

Did you expect a QHD screen for 2650 baht?? 1440 x 900 is more than adequate for most.

Just hook up the laptop to your big screen TV via HDMI,  that's what I do.

I'm on a smart TV 55" right now .

Would support the comment that most speakers on laptops are quite inferior to most electrical sound machines.  I bought a Boost TV Speaker, which works off bluetooth and have been very happy ever since.

Don't have a big screen TV.

Can you afford the best?

Latest i9 Processor?

Monitor; FHD 144Hz? QHD? UHD?

SSD storage?

Dedicated graphics card?

A combination of all of the best of those will cost you over 100k in Thailand.

So what do you actually mean by "the best"?

I used ASUS, know MSI 17,3 inch Laptops. Screens are ok, big screen is for my wife in the house, i'm outdoors. When i need good sound i connect it to a Logitech-Surroundsystem, in between a little Creative Soundblaster. Works very well, we don't have neighbours..

I understand Lenovo are now the biggest manufacturer of laptops in the world.

By the best your budget can afford as long as the laptop meets your user requirements.

So the Asus does not have a good sound? I am not too concerned about the volume, but very concerned about the sound quality.

Personally, if not looking for portability, I would go for an "All in one", Big C had a nice Lenovo "All in one" yesterday, 21.5 inch screen, built in dvd etc, Good spec for 14.9k !!

Just sits there looking like a monitor but has everything you want "All in one" ????

I dont think that any laptop will have anything that I would call good sound.

I got one of those. A Lenovo. I am thrilled with it!

I don't really need a laptop as the last laptop I had I used as a home computer hooked up to an external large screen.

I also hate P.C. towers. Too big.

All in ones used to be perceived as cheap and low quality but now there are higher end models.

Obviously for people that like to go around town with a laptop, they are no good, but as a home computer, they can be perfect.

I think its fair to say that sound can be manipulated/enhanced or whatever by software/hardware/external device etc so the "bare performance" isnt really that critical with so much available to manipulate it to whats required.

Oh yes, my Lenovo Yoga 2 in 1, the laptop I use when traveling has a great sound, I don't listen to music on it, but for watching movies and old TV shows like LA Law, it is brilliant.

A 21.5 screen on a laptop? That's something I will have to look in to. Thanks.

Thats not what it says, please look again.

An "All in one" is a Monitor size screen with the computer built into it, no external extra tower or case etc, everything is built into one unit.

I know what you mean, Although I have never seen one. I am still interested. OK You can show me next Monday.

I like the fact that if something goes wrong with it, I can easily transport it to a computer shop.

If you want good sound - then buy a proper sound system with an amplifier handling around 100W RMS per speaker! Sound range 20 Hz to 20 kHz should be adequate.
