webfact Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 TAT all smiles for 2018 Hua Hin tourism - but most of the tourists are Thai The Tourism Authority of Thailand in Prajuab Khiri Khan were all smiles this week when they announced that 6.2 million tourists had visited the province that includes Hua Hin. But behind the smile of TAT provincial chief Soraya Hormcheun were the details - 4.8 million were Thais and just 1.4 million were foreigners. Still, that meant about 600,000 visitors a month and an improvement on last year. Talknewsonline omitted to say or quote the official as to how much of an improvement this represented. The figures related to January to October this year. A beaming Soraya told reporters that a whole host of end of year activities in the province were in the pipeline and would be announced via social media. Wonderful events such as New Year prayers would be province-wide and not limited to just Hua Hin and Pranburi. Source: Talknewsonline -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-11-30 2
spidermike007 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Hua Hin, and all of Prachuap province is very popular with Thai tourists. Mostly weekenders. Hua Hin attracts very few young foreigners. Mostly an older crowd. A lot of affluent ex-pats. I do not see alot of foreign tourists when I visit Hua Hin. But, alot of Thai tourists, as they say. It is a nice town, and a great province. From Pranburi south, about 170km. of the best beaches on the Gulf, and some really charming beach towns. 1

roo860 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I was in Hua Hin last week, had not been back there for 6 years, the only young people visiting seemed to the ones from Bangkok, made a nice change from looking at the extras from the movie Cocoon. hotchilli Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 She could put a spin on a bucket of "s**t" Pattaya is dying on it's feet (or should that be back) maybe more appropriate ! So now Hua Hin is going to be made into the next west coast Pattaya... New sea links, rails links etc etc plus the airport coming into service.. expect the trash from Pattaya to migrate from east to west.. in search of new stamping grounds!!

kwilco Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 As personal incomes etc increase in Thailand it makes sense for the Thai tourist industry to target this burgeoning bourgeois. All aspects of the industry will benefit. In Some areas like Samui the number of Thai tourists are just single figure percentages at present. This needs to change.
