Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16.......2nd leg at Anfield. Not the easiest draw.

1st leg is 18th Feb. This coincides with the 'Winter Break' for the Premier League when we are due to play Norwich away.. If it pans out in our favour, the Norwich game will be 8/9 Feb giving us a full week+ to prepare. Will the Premier League and TV companies do the right thing....for once?

W7D8L2. Nah should be a doddle with the form you lot are in.

La Liga form doesn't exactly count in a CL play-off match. Simeone is a master at beating perceived superior opposition. Happy there second leg is at home.

Real don't appear too much better, you should beat them.

I hope you are right, and we draw liverpool or spurs in the next round.

Villa 5-0 LFC. Not an unsurprising result but the kids (9 teens playing against 8 full internationals) started well, were the better team for the first 15 mins and didn't let their heads drop in the 2nd half, despite being 0-4 down at half time.

As expected Elliott (16 yrs old) was probably the pick but a lack of a cutting edge (Glatzel and Brewster both inj and Curtis Jones with the 1st XI didn't help) cost us although we still had 8 shots on target and Villa's keeper needed to make a number of good saves.

Great experience for the kids despite the scoreline and hopefully they will learn a lot from it.

For the stats buffs/quiz masters amongst you, the average age was 19 years 182 days according to Sky.

The seniors will avenge this loss for the kids at Anfield. Still farcical we had to play this match today

Think I mentioned it after the first RB Salzburg game, but I hope we go for Minamino......Perfect heir to Firmino.????

Medical due today. Fingers crossed he passes it. If things go as planned he can play his first game against the trickies in the FA Cup.

And I already responded to this the first time you posted it.

Another 2-1 win. Firmino with the last minute winner just five minutes after coming on. Keita with another goal set up well by Salah. Those two were probably the pick, combining well on a number of occasions. Alisson was his usual calm and efficient self, making a couple of decent saves when required. Hendo did pretty well at centre back (his first time in that position) but we did miss VVD's organisation at the back.

A few hefty challenges on Salah and Milner in particular but hopefully no further injuries/illness for the final.

See post 909 and post 910.

Your point about other teams playing consecutive league football matches, or 1 player playing more than one match in 2 countries bares absolutely no semblance to what Liverpool had to do, there is literally no similarity whatsoever and your efforts to lessen the feat for a second time are boring...

Wow! I wasn't expecting you to be so serious. Panic setting in after the defeat?

If you are referring to league cup, I couldn't care less. Maintained that on here since day dot.

WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONS

LFC 1-0 Flamengo (aet). Decent game despite the lack of goals. Could have put the game to bed in the first ten minutes but we were a little wasteful at times. Gomez very assured at the back (looked like we had two VVD's playing)???? Hendo was superb and was MoM for me (Bobby got the official recognition). Only downers were an ankle injury to AOC and that extra time was required....oh and the ref of course! Club World Cup and they let a couple of locals officiate....ridiculous!

Despite Bobby scoring the winners in both games, Mo won the Golden Ball and Player of the tournament, despite not actually scoring himself!???? No local bias there surely!
