THE POTY 2018

 

So, here we are again,

Riders donning leather breeches, bearing whips and false promises,

As they line up for what can only be described as a gruelling marathon of epic proportions.

Newbies are full of optimism, while the veterans avoid the nasty lines, hoping to avoid being the subject of dirt digging, as they all jostle for position.

Tis a time for discovering heroes, and a platform that sees reputations torn to shreds, as lie upon lie is uncovered.

 

While one must feel sorry for the contestants, your heart should go out to the poor voter – wading his way through untruths and nasty rumours, desperate to find a candidate who will be worthy of the crown.

Very much like the Thai political circles, the masses have no idea what is really going on, and as always, vote buying is the norm. Candidates who are laden with flower garlands, bearing false promises and knowing smiles, shake the hands of anyone who is willing to listen to their empty words.

 

As for the candidates, they have their work cut out swaying the TV voters, who go to the ballot boxes in hope of selecting a worthy winner.

 

Will there be revelations this year? Candidates desperately try to cover up prior misdemeanours, looking as pious as is possible, hoping that their indiscretions remain firmly buried, yet there are always secrets uncovered.

Trans has almost completed his term as POTY holder this year, weary from the endless trips into the provinces, supporting worthy causes and generally setting a good example. It would be fitting if our crowned warbler would make a speech, highlighting the best moments of his tenure, helping the new winner to prepare for what can only be described as a test of strength.

Only time will tell.

As is customary at around this time, I post a poem, so here goes ......

 

THE QUEST FOR A WINNER

Posting goes on day after day,

Members send out their messages in their own unique way,

Some are funny, while others rude

Indeed, nothing can you exclude.

 

Comments that inform, advice that is heeded,

A worthy poster is indeed needed.

And to wear the coveted crown of POTY

Some would simply die!

 

Its all up to you in this chilly December

To do the right thing and select a TV member

A person we can all toast

Or perhaps, the one who pays the most!

 

Vote carefully, and try not to be swayed

By the stream of allegations made

Kidnapped cats and nobbled bikes

Immoral goings on during country hikes.

 

Witchcraft and sorcery abound,

People lost, never to be found,

As morality is given temporary leave,

While candidates look to deceive.

 

Whoever is crowned, one thing’s for sure,

You and I will remain poor,

And this illusion of choice

Is why the powers rejoice

 

Vote with passion and without fear,

As you select your ideal Poster of the Year!

Just heard that Baboon is having a fundraising dinner. 30 million per table and bring as many family members as you like!

I am a tad disappointed, to say the least. I expected 4 groups and each group to be seeded. The top 2 in each group then go forward to a proper final. It seems to me that the organisers are F1 fans rather that footy fans.

 

On top of that Rc's cartel group of block voting, to get a footy poster the crown, cannot now materialise.

 

I also not that bbi1 is not in the line up.
