I lived in a similar situation for real in an Antarctic base for about 8 months, and believe me, some of those guys were lucky to make it out intact.

The loathing between several of the men ( no women there thank the deity- that could have got real nasty ) and most of the men towards the so called leader was palpable.

I'd love to go to Antarctica just for the experience.  I can't imagine the cold.  Stark whiteness and desolate.  Did you like it there?  How cold did it get whilst you were there?

The hate in the world these days is on the rise, in my opinion.  An understanding of who we are and the true nature of reality would automatically eliminate most of it.  Which means that most of it is due to a lack of understanding.  We might muse that what we discuss here is purely philosophical in nature.  Not at all.  The practical applications are limitless.

It was only cold outside, and we dressed for it.

Inside it was a toasty 15 Celcius.

 

Outside it was indeed a black and white world. White snow and black rock.

 

When it got below -30 C it was cold and an unheated vehicle engine wouldn't start; above, I was used to it ( I used to go outside in a tracksuit above -30 C as long as it wasn't windy. Wind and cold will kill you quickly if not dressed properly ). Don't remember the lowest but below -40 C. We still had husky dogs then and they lived outside all year round. I loved the wolf howl they all did in unison.

 

Best year of my life bar none. If I could live there I would.

 

As an aside we had 2 women on base during the summer. They were like queens with fawning minions. I learned a lot about human psychology then, especially how men behave to women when females in short supply, and it's not showing men in a good light.

 

Yes the world is full of hatred.

So many antisocial men ( and women ) around that would beat me up for a perceived insult.

IMO they are just lost souls and evil to boot. The sort that would become Brown shirts in prewar Germany.

The coldest I've ever experienced was -33 C.  With wind that, according to the reported wind chill factor, made it feel as cold as -63 C.  Not that it was blowing that hard everywhere and all of the time.  Just the rock bottom coldest reported.  That was in Chicago.  I went out just for the experience.  Multiple layers of clothes and face covering.  I wore my ski goggles and an excellent pair of ski gloves, LOL.  And yes, it'll kill you quickly if not dressed properly.  And even if you're dressed frostbite can set in quickly on your extremities.

I consider Antifa to be the Brown shirts of the Nazis.  The rioting in the US was absolutely insane during the summer of 2020.  Absolute viciousness acted out with gleeful abandon.

First time I went out with the dogs, very shortly after arriving, I got frost nip on my nose. Troubled me for years after.

 

We had down outer clothing ( like a sleeping bag with arms ) and wool long johns, with wool pants and pullover and balaclava, and if windy had windproof over everything. None of it was waterproof as it never rained- too cold for moisture in the air. We even had to humidify the air in the sleeping quarters.

Too cold for BO as well. As all our water came from melting ice in a big ice melter, water was rationed for showers and only one every 5 days. Had to be rugged to live down there way back then.

The new bases are more like hotels than bases beyond the edge of civilization, but I wouldn't have swapped for them.

Most amazing experience I had in my entire life and I was very lucky to be chosen to go.

 

To add something about God/ religion as it's a God thread, the Americans had a big base not far from us, and they had a chapel, so I went for a Sunday service there, and I was surprised at how "militarised" the service was. The base was maintained by the US Navy, so most of the congregation were servicemen. No lack of religious fervor among the US military.

Not so much among the inhabitants of my base though. Just for going, I was mocked quite savagely, so anti religion has been with us for many decades.

Yes, what is not so well explained, afaik, is that the speed of orbit and rotation of a planet, apparently doesn't decrease with time. 

So, there must be a force which balance inertia quite accurately.

It's quite possible though that an impact from a very large asteroid could affect significantly the rotation speed, it could have happened already in the distant past.

Many years ago my son was very ill and all the hospitals and doctors we had seen over a 12 month period couldn't find what was wrong.  He just kept getting worse and worse to the point he was hospitalised and we were told he probably wouldn't live to the morning and to prepare ourselves. My second experience was a very nasty ghost who moved houses with my family, the ghost became very jealous of my grandson and would appear to him as a big Teddy Bear, after several months this teddy bear would attack my grandson while he was sleeping and bite him. Now I don't or didn't believe in ghosts until all this happened, my grandson who was only 4 at the time would not go to bed on his own because of the "Teddy Bear". My Thai partner was unperturbed at all this and we visited the local Monks together with my grandson, they were told of the situation and did their chanting over my grandson, they then gave me some "blessed water" and told me to sprinkle it all over the house and tell the ghost that we never had a problem with it, but would it please leave the house. Here's me thinking "what a load of twaddle" but game to try anything I  got some reeds and sprayed the water all over the house, not forgetting a particular wardrobe where the ghost lived. I have never felt like such a prawn in all my life doing this and telling the ghost that we didn't want a problem with it and that it was ok for him/her to move on and would it please go and live elsewhere. That night was the first peaceful night for months and we never never heard from the ghost again.

 

So the first experience, was it a miracle or a coincidence

The second experience - well what can you call it, I don't know.

 

 

 

The first experience was the hospital finally got round to doing what they should have done in the first place.
The second experience was your grandson either having a recurring nightmare or maybe calling for attention. Did you actually see bite marks? Where on his body were they located? Like you say "what a load of twaddle" there's no such things as ghosts especially ones that bite. Maybe a werewolf that was hungry.

At some days I have believed I have been blessed with one, because out of things I got away with, but at same time afraid of claiming one. Why should I have been so lucky, when so many dont, and why I deserve one and others dont. I have not done anything to deserve one compare to others as far I know.

Yes, everything is possible. 

Every single atom could be a solar system with little planets and sentient beings trying the best to survive etc.

Perhaps there's no God, but it's better to believe that there is imho.
