we are in a slightly less than neutral ENSO, on the El Nino side.

read Fruend. or don't read it.  depends on if you are prefrontal like me, or like to be 'happy' and dopey in which case don't even look it up..... really.

Millions of rai of rice field are under threat

I eat very little rice, I find other forms of carbs more nourishing. Wife and son can't get enough of it so I try to encourage them to have chips with their geng ped. What's wrong with som tam served with a bowl of freshly made french fries? Far better than that khao neow muck.

Rice shortage? All's good in the hood.

It has been in the news for some time now that this year is experiencing a weak El Nino.. which translates to less than normal rainfall.  The distribution of rain isn't uniform ..  it depends where you are.  Here in the north east we have had some good rainfall although much less than in normal years.. other places are very dry and in the south and around Pattaya they have been having a lot.  Here are some links that you can use to see what is going on:

1st..  this is a table of dam levels that is kept up to date for all major dams in Thailand:  http://www.thaiwater.net/DATA/REPORT/php/rid_dam_1.php?lang=en

2nd.. Ventusky.. a very useful site to see what is happening around the country.. and the world if you like. Daily.. hourly and you can advance the date to see what is coming.. scroll in and out and drag to change location..  https://www.ventusky.com/?p=14.2;102.1;4&l=rain-3h

we were a bit lucky out 15 ks from si that, it rained heavily a month ago and filled our big dam at th bottom of the 10 rai of rice paddies, the big tractor is rotering the last 3 paddies today and we will plant tomorrow, just been  down to have a look and there is plenty of water left after 2 days of pumping. We also  just finished planting 30 rai of mung just as the rain started, it is going gang busters, i finally convinced a third of my thai family NOT TO BURN after we cut the cane this year and leave it to go back into the ground, on 50rai, thais walk past and i watch them stand and look at how well every thing is growing, we have the new, do not need much water rice planted on the lower paddock, looks good, and up a little bit higher  the peanuts are really looking good, but the small river is dry, the ants are looking for high ground  which is a good sign, lets all hope !

As the thread is in the Chiang Mai forum that might have given you a lead.

Having said that gay porn sites might be more your go????

Plenty of rain the last few days in Phuket

I don't think of Phuket, Krabi and anything south as Thailand. Have their own environmental system.

Don't see as much rice growing as in Long Dong either.

Just for the hard of reading this is the Chiangmai forum.

Just for the hard of understanding, when TV sends an email out twice a day with headline articles to read it doesn't usually indicate where each thread originates.

Once knew a Chinese man named Won Hung Lo!
