Small point that needs clarifying. It was Greta's parents that filled her head with confusion, hate and panic, ergo they "stole her dreams". Textbook child abuse really. When she gets bored of this cl

If this climate change is real - & I doubt it is, then why are we still using plastic bottles?

How many of those er protesters use mobile phones, eat meat, drive cars etc? Most of them I expect.

Just wondering though....why were the Romans able to grow grapes in the North of England?

Don't let facts get in the way of the dogma!

The amount of pollution caused  by making a mobile phone is astounding but those children all have one, yet they think they have a right to lecture us about pollution!

They run around demanding that governments "do something", but they have no solutions. Perhaps they know nothing, except what the climate alarmists tell them. Not for nothing is climate change described by many as the new religion of the masses.

The biggest hypocrisy is that all those climate warriors fly all over the world in planes that emit vast amounts of pollution in the upper atmosphere to talk about climate change. It's like they never heard of teleconferencing.

Many on the believer side are saying that Greta shouldn't be criticised because she is a child, but if someone thinks they can address the grown ups in the UN, then they should be treated as an adult. The saying "if you can't stand the heat, don't go in the kitchen" comes to mind.

She's old enough to have sex, drive a car, leave home, get a job- sounds like an adult to me.

agree with the journalist here,

they instill FUD into greta,

at first glance i thought she was just acting,

but now i think she actually believe this fantasy,

she is fighting monsters, with her life at stake

I've heard a few on talkback radio saying that her parents should be charged with child abuse. I agree. A normal 16 year old doesn't come up with the idea they are going to die because of "climate change" on their own.

I haven't seen any 16 year old Syrians addressing the UN on the war in Syria, in which they do, actually, have a good chance of dying.

I'm not all that bothered about plastic.

(but I do generate some solar electricity)

How did you determine that this is fake news?  Did you consult your ouija board?

Greta Thunberg is the perfect spokesperson for the modern "progressive" Green/Left.

Completely ignorant, yet totally convinced she is right. No wonder they all fawn over her.

We can all see that Ms Thunberg is very convinced in her opinion.  What convinces you that she is "completely ignorant"?  Are you basing your opinion on what someone else told you or do you have decades of solid scientific research under your belt that enables you to refute her argument?

Complaining that old people have stolen her dreams is not scientific evidence of anything to do with climate change. If she thinks it is she is displaying ignorance, IMO, of the real world.

If anything, her rant at the Un is just ammunition for those that disagree with her.

Someone put her rant to music to mock her already.

Petulant children don't get to address the UN on their own, so I'm of the opinion that if we follow the money, we will find who is behind her.

Enlighten me. How would you do it?

You must communicate that to Australian farmers sometime.

I'd do it by finding realistic ways to make people have less children. The problem, if it is man made, is caused by too many people, ergo reduce people, reduce the problem.

In the meantime, I'd put a refundable deposit on every piece of disposable plastic sold, so it didn't end up in the oceans.

I'd ban private cars in cities and build decent public transport systems- I never owned a vehicle in London; didn't need one.

I'd ban casual air travel and build hi speed electrified railways instead.

I'd force shipping companies to carry non perishable cargoes in wind powered ships, where there are reliable winds ( wind powered ships do not have to use sails ).

I'd make politicians use teleconferencing instead of flying to meetings.

Plenty of other similar ideas that would work.

What ideas do you have to solve the problem?

no, i consulted ice samples and a real scientist on oceanography, watch from 21.50 to 28.00.

do you have six minutes to spare ?

How about a Pakistani child, shot by the Taliban, addressing the UN on her 16th birthday?

If, you were impressed with Greta's speech, you'll be amazed by this.

Quite a few along the same lines as yours. Add in conversion to hydrogen-based fuels. Houses that generate their own electricity and store their own water. Instead of millions of cars going to shopping malls, have thousands of delivery vans servicing internet shopping, as it was before the car population exploded.

Accelerate the development of thorium -based nuclear reactors to generate electricity. Inherently safe.

Reward savers instead of borrowers. Scrap the current indicators of economic "success",  and replace them with KPI's based on a country's environmental performance. Tax multinationals on their revenue streams instead of their declared profits. Punish countries who permit indiscriminate burning and logging with sanctions.

Mandate biodegradable plastic. If it doesn't break down, ban it.

Some of this may happen. My guess is the majority will not

Imagine Greta assisting during a brain surgery.. complex matters need to be assessed by educated people. You probably misunderstood and assumed I have no respect for uneducated people which is an incorrect conclusion. I just believe that you need specialists for specific problems.

Oh ...great!

So the vast majority of the (significant for climate and stuff) scientific community says climate change is real and man made!

Happy, we got that settled, then!

What has that got to do with anything?

Yeah...please ...not like this!

Not like holding the world's leaders and all politicians accountable, for being in the pocket of the (for example) oil- industry and the coal- industry!

That would be ridiculous!

This was a poor little girl, attacked by Muslims - the cause of all evil in the world!

The other one was just a spoiled brat, ranting for ecofascism and against prosperity and progress!

Actually, I find both of them very inspiring and awesome, each in their own way!

By posting the same old, a hundred times debunked youtube- clip over and over and over again, stating that it tooooootally debunks all and every scientist in the world, relevant for climate science?

Yeah...I am absolutely shaking in my boots!
