I guess you have to find out what would motivate her to lose weight.

If she has no motivation that she want's to lose weight she won't do anything about it.

She must be motivated. If she is then she will work on it and lose weight.

point out the obvious - a fat farang can get another thai wife - a fat thai woman will find it hard to get another farang

One of my wife's Thai girl friends isn't fat, just not fit/tone.   Her Thai b/f told her a few weeks ago, in front of my wife, who's fit, exercises 6 days a week, "Why can't you be more like her!".   I think he'd had a few Regency&sodas at that point.  Doh! 

 

Sure enough, next day, that lady went off to exercise group with my wife, but it didn't last.  And now there's this awkward vibe.

I like to add something to my own comment. This is obviously a general comment and not address to the OP.

 

There are also reasons why a woman might like to be fat. Because if she is fat then most men will not think she is attractive. And most men are not interested in sex with unattractive women. So what's the best way for a woman to avoid sex: Be fat and stay fat.

That's very true, a pals gf got enormous, then directly they split up (he became very ill then went home to live with his mom), she became slim and attractive again. It was an amazing transformation from 'Spicey agogo' dancer to hippo hausfrau then back.

A big reason women have got so big is because men haven't got the balls to tell them the truth.

I always tell them and i say you'll thank me one day. Even thai girls i tell them a weight range which is ok

Totally agree.  I have overheard or been in direct conversation with many Thais, mosly women, who have called each other "pompoi" (chubby) or "Uan" (fat) to their faces.  I seemed to be the only one shocked.  In fact up my way I know a few people whose actual nicknames is Uan.

 

However I do have a problem with your comments re honesty (if you are talking in a general sense).

 

 

my wife was putting on weight but so was I, its what happens when you are in a great marriage, love each other and are comfortable, there is no need to have to look good for to find someone. I told her she was starting to put on the kg's but she had realized this herself as she had to keep buying new clothes so we both went on a keto diet, both of us have dropped weight and are doing well, she is over the moon now all her clothes fit her again and the fact she is looking good again makes her very happy. Just be honest with her, tell her the truth, if she loves you as much as you love her she will try to do something about it

Try gardening. Very satisfying to see sown seed turn into something edible .

Is she approaching 50? Thai women often go through "the change" at this age, along with it, weight gain.

She knows she's fat, your problem is how to motivate her to not be fat. My wife has has gained a few kg's, and I talk to her about different strategies for weight loss. She has watched me lose quite a lot of weight. But until she gets the determination to stick with a plan for more than a few days, I don't think much is going to happen.

Just use that endearing Thai term for large size people "Uan ja"

When my wife says "I fat" I say, no you're not, you're just chubby, luckely she takes it as a compliment.
