Cooler weather on its way, Met office predicts

Isolated thundershowers and gusty winds are forecast for upper Thailand at the start of the week, followed by a drop of 2-4 degrees C in the North and the Northeast, the Thailand Meteorological said in its forecast issued on Monday (October 28).

 

The East and Central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity would also see lower temperatures with drops of between 1 and 3 degrees C. The department attributed the weather conditions to the weakening of a high pressure ridge over upper Thailand and the South China Sea and the moderate northeast monsoon prevailing across the Gulf and the South.

 

The South of the country, meanwhile, will experience heavy rain from today until November 1. The department warned shipping in the South to proceed with caution from October 29 to November 1 and keep away from thundershowers. An active low-pressure cell is over the coast of the west lower Philippines and is expected to grow into a tropical depression as it moves across the South China Sea on October 28-29 but will not affect Thailand.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

Northern region: Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area, temperature lows of 22-25 degrees and highs of 33-37degree Celsius.

 

Northeastern region: Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area, temperatures lows 22-25 degrees and highs of 34-35degree Celsius.

 

Central region: Partly cloudy weather with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 24-25 degrees, highs 34-36degrees Celsius.

 

Eastern region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 24-26 degrees, highs 33-35degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.

 

Southern region (east coast): Cloudy with thundershowers and heavy rains in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25 degrees, highs 29-36 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

 

Southern region (west coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and heavy rains in 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 31-32 degree Celsius; wave height 1metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

 

Bangkok and surrounding area: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area, lows 26-27 degrees, highs 33-37 degrees Celsius.

The meater is in shade.

It's warmer than ever. Cold season they said.

So winter didn't start on Oct 17th as previously predicted ?

I'll take this with a pinch of salt & a cool beer... as it's still hot!

Here on the Phetchabun/Phitsanulok border this morning at 6:00 I  took the dogs for their walk and sincerely regretted not upgrading to a T shirt from a singlet. There was a gentle zephyr blowing and I got the chill shakes! Worse will come.  I have in the past worn tracky dakkies over shorts, an overcoat over tracky top,  over a singlet and T shirt....a beanie and knitted gloves.  When I have told folks back home they think I am joking!  Yep,  the mornings can get really cold here.

The meater is in shade.

That's measuring the wall temperature. It should be about 1 metre off the ground, in the shade and in free flowing air to get air temperature.

They are right with it way up here , 10% cloud and between 22 and 37 c. Right now ...spot on.
