Popular Post parafareno Posted November 24, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted November 24, 2019 yes listening to old fart farting or watching german tv makes me very excited 3
Popular Post bkk6060 Posted November 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) There have been mixed comments on this. I am not sure about the overall construction, but my opinion is the newer construction walls between units are built more solid and quieter. Some say older buildings are better. Either way I see the construction quality as below most western standards. PS: Are you a stuck no real option owner? Otherwise, move. Or, ask them to turn it down or get a loud fan or earphones. Or, take the mature approach and blast yours or some loud music to get back at them. Edited November 24, 2019 by bkk6060 4
neeray Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 This is not a Pattaya-only problem. I hear reports in my home country, which is building condos at an alarming rate, of being able to hear and smell what is going on next door.
Skallywag Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Caveat emptor. due diligence. Rent before you buy...now you can rent AirBnB for a few days to check out a building you re considering renting long term 1 1

Destiny1990 Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Wall thickness wise best to avoid Indian developments. 1 1
geisha Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Well, my walls are quite thin, and my shelves and fittings maybe made of cardboard. Think I’ll need to move soon.
Popular Post LennyW Posted November 25, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2019 Newer condos are generally <deleted> built, all about the profit never mind the quality!, best stick with some of the older ones. 5
Henryford Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 (edited) My condo must be the exception. The walls seem very thick and i hardly ever hear neighbour noise. If i ever try to drill into them i usually blunt my drills. Edited November 25, 2019 by Henryford
Popular Post ivor bigun Posted November 25, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2019 I have been in so very many condo blocks here in Pattaya, stay away from the new modern ones ,they are truly built badly ,also stay away from any that have Chinese in them ,you will never get a nights sleep. the older blocks are far better built ,mind you that goes for the UK as well. 3

Agreed, I've lived in two different View Talay buildings and they are built like tanks. Can hear a little bit from the hallway but not a sound thru walls or ceiling. Building is 15 yrs old (I think) 2
NCC1701A Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 i rented a new clean condo in a modern building in Pattaya for one month. first time for me in a condo in Thailand. first 10 days i thought it was great. next ten days the honeymoon was over. last ten days could not wait to get out. 1

Last time I was in one of the VT cells, the noise seemed to come from the corridor. Many make noise and like to leave their doors open. 1 1

Agree 100% Currently living in a nearly 30 yo condo, well maintained, and I really enjoy to not hear at all my neighbours (except the occasional slammed door ...) Separation walls are rather thick, and so strong that it's even a problem when you need to drill a hole to fix something at them... 1

madmen Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 TIT neighbors play tv at obscene levels and bar girls screaming their lungs out. Neither of these happen in the west.
gk10002000 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 I have been in some that have concrete walls which frankly I like as the don't smell, probably won't degrade much with time, doesn't damage much if there are water leaks, are solid, more mass helps reduce noise, adds thermal mass which is good for heating and cooling moderation. concrete is relatively cheap and I can see me making some modifications to my home in the USA. Stick and wood and blue board and plaster I never rally liked, especially if thin. Rare to find solid brick or real wood walls, except in some log cabin or custom built homes.

Elmer Fudd Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Trouble is you never know until after moving in. I am currently able to hear my neighbors speaking at normal volume, can hear every word they say. This is a 3 year old building. I think it's just down to the cheapness of the developer. Most of the older places I've visited or have friends in seem to be well sound insulated. 1

MyTHaiMyKe Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 No! I heard some use cardboard! Buyers beware on any building in Thailand. Look good for a few months, then all the bad stuff starts showing up! They are definitely not worth the asking price! Why would anyone want to buy anything here? Can never make money on your investment with the baht changing every hour, mostly going down. Only rent, when things go bad you can move on. 1
