Probe into suspected foreign involvement in illegal resorts in Chiang Mai

 

 

The Royal Forest Department has launched an investigation to determine whether Chinese investors own stakes in two resorts at Doi Mon Jam in Mae Rim district of Chiang Mai province, which were raided by its officials last week.

 

The raids at Doi Mon Jam, a popular mountainous retreat for tourists, was ordered by Natural Resources and Environment Minister Warawut Silpa-archa, after widespread land encroachment on state land, allegedly by local and foreign investors, had been reported. The minister said that all the illegal resorts, big or small, must be dismantled and the encroachers will be charged.

 

Initial findings indicate that one of the two major resorts, Mon Dara, is possibly a joint venture between Thai and Chinese investors. Its board of directors have been identified as Mr. Yuan Chern Charnsirikul, Ms. Nian Chi San, Mr. Chi Sin Chan, Ms. Su-ariya Veetasetthakul, Ms. Chanthita Luangpramuan and Ms. Arparat Leewongphan.

They came (invited) They saw, They colonised!...…...….....Visa Free!

Bet your bottom yuan that Chinese are involved in many RE investment all over the country and deeply so something i know from first hand information, they're into land, hotels, business and fruits orchards big time and all under proxies and nominees setups...

Ah adhering to the theory of Sun Tzu from centuries ago, control the economy, take over the land, (buy the farms and freeholds) and supply drugs to the populace, then walk in.

Chinese doing that across the world in many countries. I think they given it the name "Belt and Road" inititive , using very well in the Pacific region, and buying Australian farms and water mining rights (even in the drought)

At least I now know what my Mrs was wittering on about yesterday Chinese changing their names to Thai and buying a mountain i said not possible where is the 7/11 ????

Speaking of mountains and Chiang Mai,  what was the final outcome of the judicial residences on Doi Suthep?

I have friends in the US who have been outbid by Chinese nationals on home purchases. The Chinese will offer 30% more and willing to pay in cash. On the flip side I am not permitted by China to purchase property. Quite the double standard. But, who says the US Government is looking out for its citizens? 

So.. the main issue is the "foreigners", not the encroachment nor the Thais that facilitated it ????

Overturned and allowed to stay by the government. So diddly squat and no true justice for the destruction of the mountain.

That is the sad thing about it. It is a prime Primo place to have a home but only they can encroach on the prime taboo land with a no problem. If you look out the airplane window while flying you can see how they just tore and shredded the bazeekers out of that section. Looks like a catastrophe hit it and totally out of place and out of line.
