Cacti nurseries - buying plants/seeds as a tourist

Featured Replies

Hi I am a european tourist in Bangkok/Pattaya.

I am a non-professional cacti enthusiast/farmer.

I am looking for cacti/seeds markets/showplaces/events.

Also interested in non-cacti tropical flora.

Any advice to which places or parks to attend in Bangkok or Pattaya is greatly appreciated.

P.S: I doubt I can bring back to Europe living plants without phytosanitary certificate. Are there nurseries that can provide it?

Have a nice day.

Try visiting Chatuchak market. There is supposed to be a cactus nursery there that even sells peyote cactii. They are bought by people for their decorative beauty and not psychoactive effects. They are quite expensive by all accounts.

There are a number of shops which specialize in cactus at Sanam Luang market, also known as Thonburi 2 market.  Phuttamonton Sai 4.  Most taxi drivers will know it. Suggest you go on a weekday as weekends gets quite crowded.  Chatuchak is easier to get to though if you are in central BKK.

Many varieties and sizes available. Small cactus are 20 to 25 baht each and most vendors will offer 6 for 100 baht however you need to ask if it is not advertised.

Air Orchards have a large variety too. However it is in Nakhon Pathom.  Well worth a day trip if you are into orchards too.
