You too?  Does everyone want to drown?

You're overreacting like many others. Same thing happened during the SARS breakout in 2002. People will die during outbreaks, the flu kills old people every year all around the world. 8 cases so far in Thailand, a country with ~68 million people + tourists. 8 cases is nothing.

  • I see, so according to you, although some water entered through the top hatch of the conning tower (submarine) we should not bother closing or sealing it as we dive.    We should drown.

  • I do.  What if:   Thousands who are infected but not showing symptoms arrive in Thailand? One of them rides the BTS walking from one end to the other, grasping straps and poles as they

  • Closing stable door after horse has bolted.

Someone has just sent me a copy of a communication from a friend in China. According to this there are tens of thousands of people affected by the coronavirus, quite a different number to what the government are letting on.

How did this person get their figures? How can you be sure that their figures are correct? Nobody knows the correct figures for this virus the same as nobody knows who the first person was that contracted this virus and when they contracted it. All figures at this stage are only guess work

Give it 2 weeks and then the real overseas Media will give your the real deal not these Asian Media bull----<deleted>ters

The ramifications of a full lockdown are huge, however pleasing to see that Chiang Mai airport have cancelled all direct  flights from Whuhan for 2 weeks.

The WHO & Thai Government are taking this seriously & the reports of building an isolation hospital in China shows thay are. It is being monitored by the hour all around the world.

Suggest the elderly, sick, children, & any with a respiratory ailment conduct their own

semi isolation as much as possible

It should have been done before but just because it wasn't done before does not mean it shouldn't be done now.  The virus is still spreading and now China has announced that it can be spread during the incubation period.

And how many people have gotten sick from the virus by secondary contamination? In other words, how many people not originating from Wuhan have contracted the virus?

we can't close the borders to chinese ....  look at all the tourist dollars we'll lose  !!

This virus is similar to the flu and becomes dangerous only when it develops into pneumonia which is treatable .

Sure it is, but I'll bet you've never had pneumonia.

Many think it was pig or birds at the wet market in Wuhan; some one else thinks it was horsemeat? Horse is pretty good eating I read on the internet. But like Abe Lincoln said "don't believe all you read on the internet".

Close the door with China ok but since the virus is now in other countries you'd have to close those doors too.

This is highly misinformed. Only a few cases are in other countries where in China it is reaching critical mass.  It's not the same.

I think you're missing the point a bit.  It's not how many people have gotten sick; it's preventing future cases and future deaths from a new virus of which little is known other than it can be deadly. You don't contain a deadly virus by allowing potentially exposed carriers to travel freely to uninfected areas.  7000 Wuhan residents were admitted to Thailand and each is a potential carrier of the disease--which can be spread even in the incubation period where there can be no symptoms.

I'm not missing the point at all, it is you who is missing the point.

AFAIK there have been no people infected outside of Wuhan or direct vicinity.

Make yourself some popcorn, watch some mind-numbing Thai television and wait.

You won't have to wait long .....

Or

Better, experience it for yourself.  Buy yourself a ticket on the BTS go immerse yourself in a sea of viruses and if you're lucky you might get to find out how easily you can get it from the Thai that got it from another Thai that got it from some Chinaman from Wuhan.

There once was a Chinaman from Wuhan,

He always slept on a futon,

He traveled abroad and infected the paranoid,

And then collapsed while eating a wanton.

From January 3-24, there were 43 flights from Wuhan city which brought 6,982 people.

Flights from Wuhan now stopped.... but is it too late?

Other Chinese cities are affected, are flights still coming from the rest of China?
